Turnout seemed relatively small among people I\'d recognize as Breakfast regulars.. not that I know everybody... but the venue was pretty full overall. People came to get down last night and Breakfast dropped the necessary dose of funk on us to catalyze funky body movement. I for one did not come to Providence to sit in the back of the crowd
As far as one set shows go that was a totally fullfilling musical experience.
Inner Glimpse out of Hard Luck Harry was a total suprise and they nailed it. Gravity was totally sick.... what I like to call the "Breakfast Machine" came out in force for that jam... totally locked in Type III action which to me is really impressive. The Breakfast Machine has been making a lot of appearances in the last year. Dangle was gettin down on the bass and drove the music to some serious places.
WTF was great. Rush was intense, fun, and beautiful as usual. Absolutely loved Adrian\'s drumming in the Rush jam... heady heady beats. Always great to see Existential Funk -- the greatest song ever composed -- again.
Blessing in the Skies... 1st time I\'d heard it. Honestly don\'t remember it that well right now... so no comment I guess
Shotgun Butterfly, also 1st time heard by me... very cool tune... I think if the mellower parts were *more* mellow and the intense parts were *more* intense it would create the contrast to make this song even more memorable.. but that\'s just my take.
Cult of Personality is one of the bands best covers and was a great bustout for the evening. The Chase began with an interesting jam.. cool to see new variations.. as we are used to hearing this song open with a haunting organ riff. The Chase always seemed to me more of a set opener than an closer / encore but they made it work by switching up the intro.
Real glad I made it out there. Great to see good people again and loosen up a little. Breakfast continues to deliver a great time.
