So...what does everyone think?!
I have listened to it 4 or 5 times now and I am really diggin it.
The first 5 minutes are insane. Love the way it starts so balls to the walls. I can think of a lot of tunes that will for NASTY seques with this part in and out of.
I like like the break down after the gnarly part too,. Very melodich and soft on the ears.
Then the it gets real bluesy when the lyrics come in. I wasn\'t sure how i felt about this at first but I deffinitly dig it.
THe jame after the lyrics reminds me ALOT of a phish jam the way it progresses (char zero, theme). I could see this section generating some INSANE over the top bild ups.
cant wait to hear it live.
what do you guys think?
honestly, and this may be considered blasphemous, i think it needs another section to tie in the prog-y stuff with the swing blues stuff. the blues section just doesn\'t seemed earned, to me. i like the two parts a lot, i just think they need to be tied together a little stronger.
not dissing the tune, just trying to make it even more epic!
The more they play the song the better it will get. I personally think it is one of their better tunes.
I also, honestly believe, just making an assumption from Psygn and Good Things, that the next couple of years ahead are the best ones. Some of the best tunes they will have, have yet to be written/played.
The more they play the song the better it will get.
i don\'t doubt that at all!
The bluesy section is the actual "awakening", if I understood Tim last night in our conversation about the song. The beginning is meant to signify the struggle within Buquebus to "break" free from Mooboo\'s Voodoo. That is why it is such a violent shift. I think also that Spaceman has it right, it will get smoother as they streamline that
****.
p.s. "Psygn" is part of the Buquebus legend.
its deffinitly a strange transfer no doubt about that. First listen I was like \'woa where in the hell did that come from."
The bluesy section is the actual "awakening"
thats exactly what i was going to say. adding another section for a smoother transition would completely defeat the purpose of the song. its needs the abrupt change because its part of the story.
^ ditto. i like the song a lot but the switch into the blues is something that will need to become smoother over time. hearing it on saturday (first time) i turned to someone next to me when they went into the bluesy jam and asked if it was still ep3/what\'s this? wasn\'t too sure about it.

An abrupt change does not have to be so disconcerting. I think it can use some smoothing out and a guitar player as good as Tim can do it.

its definitely going to get tighter, but the song\'s structure is the way it needs to be.

And I have no problem with that.
I like it. i can\'t wait for them to be comfortable with it.
all in good time
the more they play it, the more confidence they will play it with.
soon they will know each others movement like they know how to breathe
