So this has been in the back of my mind for a few weeks - what is this song about? I\'m guessing a DAT or something along those lines got broken and everyone was busting on the owner... Is it based on something that happened to someone? Tim or Jordan? I never really thought about the lyrics before but now that I\'ve read them I\'m curious...

Quote
DRUNK MONK BAR (Giangreco, Palmieri)

Its been a crazy night at the drunk monk bar
Just found my box sitting on top of my car
Gotta find a way to fix that thing
Cause every knob and button is hanging by a string
I took it inside
Someone sent it for a good ride

He acted like it was some birthday beat down
He took that thing and smashed it to the ground
How can you record with a broken machine?
All that is left is a memory
How could you do that
Someone give that drunk monk a slap

Drunk Monk Bar
On my car
Gone too far
This means war

Placed it on a stool right in front of me
Bits and pieces of what it used to be
All they did was laugh and joke at me
Karma is coming to get you just wait and see
Went back outside
Got down on my knees and cried

The Drunk Monk Bar is the old tape player/recorder that the band used to record their performances on.  When I first saw Adrian play the drums (he was playing a gig with FU Jazzboy at Rudys), Tim and Jordan came there and recorded it with tDMB.

tDMB was also at the acoustic show the Breakfast played at BAR back in 2000.

Probably, but at that point I was only shooting film. If they exist, they are in a box somewhere in this conglomeration of boxes we have going right now. Ask again in say....oh.....6 months!! ;)

Just listening to 9/19/09 and this version of DMB is excellent. Stellar show. Strong vocals and a good recording taboot!

There is a lyric in there before the last verse that I can\'t quite grab. Its not part of the lyrics listed above, but I have heard it in many versions. Its like, "something, something, something related to my radio"  ?? Thats just a guess on my part, of course.

Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe the Branch can shed some light?

yeah those end lyrics are unlisted or something.

I\'d like to know what they\'re saying too.

Because that part of the song kicks ass in a serious way.
Put the pointed pencil in the pepper-po and take a little sniff of the things below. :sadban:

Alright, I can admit when I am completely missing the boat.  While listening to 4/25/03 this morning I realized that the lyrics that I couldn't grasp right before the last verse are 'That drunk monk better find Something related to my radio.' It IS part of the lyrics listed above. I chose not to read and listen together!  ;D It only took about a decade  ;)
