After having had a chance to listen to the recording a few times i will offer up my recording review.

The recording is very bass heavy but the AKG\'s do a nice job of keeping it listenable. i think the BOOMYNESS of the recording stems from the mics close prox. to the back wall of the cabin. I think the rear axis picked up the "slapback" so to speak and caused this effect. It does however bring Ron\'s crazy bass lines upfront so that was nice. Vocals a little low at times but the recording was worth it. there is some serious  jams on this tape. Every member of the band has shining moments.

There is another source. Nuemann -> warm MOD UA-5. I am sure robc will have it on archive.org shorthly so it will be nice to compare

I was thinking the same thing re the bass. If I get time, I may try to tweak the eq on it to try to sharpen it up before burning, though with work etc, don\'t know when that will be. However, as you say, there are some ser jams on there.

rob was clamped just a bit higher on the same rig so his recording may also be effected by heavy bass from the cabin. but we shall see.
