So I\'ve downloaded Parallels Desktop and want to use it to run a couple programs on my Mac. Turns out I need a licensed copy of Windows XP. I assumed my old Toshiba reboot disk would be sufficient but apparently it\'s not. Anyone know how I can set this up so I can run Windows on my Mac. I\'ve searched the Webernets but didn\'t quite find what I was looking for. I sent Dave a pm, but then I remembered he\'s on the road. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is also bootcamp you can use for the mac, but that probably doesn\'t solve your licensed copy of XP problem. Paralells is probably better anyway. There must be a "legal download" somewhere for windows XP, no? If not, it can\'t be much more than $100.
i think it\'s turning back on me / i\'m down on the upside

My business partner and I had the same issue recently. I will inquire with him how we went around that issue. Maybe what we did can help you.

The problem is I don\'t have the $100 to spare. I\'ve considered pirating a copy but don\'t want to get any virus. I thought the copy in my old cpu would work, but apparently not. Hopefully Spacey can help me out.

If you Mac has Intel processors you should just put Ubuntu 9.04 on there instead.

But yeah Linux on PPC isn\'t so great.

There are ways to get windows w/o paying for it, if you are interested in going down those routes.

OR

Get the Windows 7 beta, which is a fully functional (beta) OS.
