the shaman i know is someone i deeply trust, spiritually, who is also a recovering alcoholic with a LONG time away from a drink.  i completely agree with you about the current state of affairs as far as psychedelics in spirituality is concerned.  i read a lot of accounts from people who say that this is a spiritual journey but like you said, all i\'m reading is someone getting really **** up and BSing some cliche mumbo jumbo about self realization.

and tuna, my spiritual beliefs align with the ancient belief systems of north and south american shamans so i\'m not worried about anyone swaying my beliefs or focusing the ceremony on something i dont already believe in.

again, i\'m not interested in tripping.  i\'m interested in a spiritual ceremony with a shaman i know, and incidentally this involves psychedelics.  my dilmena is in my recovery from addiction and where i draw the line between spiritual practice (which is crucial to my recovery) and picking up (which is the antithesis of my recovery).  i\'m not looking to make a habit out of this or even have it be something that occurs more than once, but there is a large part of me that feels that this is part of my path and something important for me to do.

Allright, well, it certainly isn\'t going to hurt you, so you might as well go for it :)

Aya is something I think you\'ll find impossible to make a habit out of even if you wanted to ;)

May I highly suggest taking the Aya/DMT around *water*.... the more and the purer the water the better, the DMT will thank you for it!

yeah, plus Dolphin-Assisted Theraphy looks like it might even be more fun than a good mindtrip =D

Is Jim\'s shaman a dolphin? If so sign me up. I want in on that party.

finally saw the show last night... it\'s definitely good, but i don\'t see it as being as "deep" as everyone has suggested.  The premier was awesome... made ya think a lot, but i don\'t think it will be on for a long time.  (imho)

I liked it well enough but I do agree I don\'t see it as being all that spiritual.  It\'s just a TV show done by a major network.  It is what it is.  I see it more as a psuedo X-Men rip off then anything else.

I know from the first go round that most people weren\'t all that into this show, but I got hooked, and after it\'s short hiatus it is returning tonight :D.  I can\'t wait.

PS to the moderators, sorry I searched for the original thread but couldn\'t find it.

I will tape heroes and watch 24 in real time. technically i could tape them both. but I prefer to watch my favorite shows recorded so i can pause and go back if i miss something or fast forward thru commercials
