In the interests of basic freedoms, I am reposting until whatever coward who blacked out my comments admits to doing it and offers an explanation as to why the comments should be blacked out that is sound enough to justify this action.

CAVEAT: MAJOR SPOILER. DO NOT RECOMMEND READING IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE.

ROTK? Eh. Two Towers was much better.

-Battle scenes in ROTK had some cool effects, but overall did not stack up with the battle of Helms Deep from Two Towers. Not even close. In ROTK, it\'s like, everything\'s chill, then next thing you know they\'re battling. The battle of Helms Deep had almost two hours leading up to it, and carried far more meaning.

-"I am no man" oh god, a blind man could see this coming all the way from Eisengard. Give me a break.  I almost yakked.

-What is up with cheese factor 5 at the end of the movie? It should have ended five times. But it was just cheese cheese and more cheese. Sam\'s wedding scene? C\'mon... definitely did not need that.

-Distinct lacking of Liv Tyler and the Ents.

-The story itself is a letdown when nobody, not one single good guy, gets whacked. It\'s too good. Sam should have been forced to push Frodo into the pit with the ring. Now THAT\'S a story. I even would have settled for the lava washing them up when they\'re on the rock. Aragon should have gotten slain after they dispose of the ring, and never gotten to see his unborn child. The dark rider dude should have taken out Gandalf before getting plugged by the woman. OK, the King gets iced, big deal. The story lost power with being too tra-la-la.

Look, it\'s a really good movie, don\'t get me wrong, it just doesn\'t stack up with it\'s predecessors. Tough standards to live up to.

Hey Wolf, It sux that u got blacked out but if anyone wanted to read your post they just had to click on the sentences to read. That\'s what I did. I think it may have been major spoiler in big letters that someone freaked on. Anyways keep up the fight!! No censors  BOOOOOOOOOOO BOOOOOOOOOOO!

oh, and i also made a post when i originally did it the other night.. unfortunately the site is too f\'ed up right now do do anything right.. ugh..

anyways, spoiler tags are completely normal.. they\'re not a censor by any means.. i plan on adding them to the forum so that you can do it yourself by adding
Spoiler (hover to show)
to a post... it\'s just so if someone wants to read the spoilers, they have to make an effort. this prevents anyone accidentally reading spoilers...

the bigger issue here is, wtf happened to the site?? :(

OK, I\'m new to the concept of "spoiler tags", as I\'m sure some other people probably are.  An accompanying explanation would\'ve saved all of this trouble, but I understand that it was the site and not the user that prevented this.  A much more important issue is indeed wtf happened to the site?

I never read the books as a kid and I\'m glad.  I picked them up when the first movie was coming out and read them during that winter.  I couldn\'t put them down.  That having been said I was never into sci fi or fantasy as a child - just wasn\'t my bag, baby.

The third movie kicks some serious ass.  The parts that Jackson does treat are definitely parts that belong in the movie and I feel this book always was the one that begged for modern big screen.  I really would have liked to see Frodo and the boys come back to the shire and **** slap Saruman and his thugs around some as experienced war vets, though.  I would have sat through another 1 1/2 hours for it easily.

Overall, with the conflicts of business and art, Jackson pulled one off helping to establish the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings as a new popular mythology supporting a healthier multicultural world view.  We can all live together and support the forces of light.

If anyone finds a copy of ROTK on the net, I will trade for DVD of Phish - 10/31/94.  PM me if you are interested.
The best music is essentially there to provide you something to face the world with - Bruce Springsteen

Upon second viewing, ROTK is sick.  The battle of Minas Tirith stacks right up with Helms Deep.  The acting is sensational and the adaption from book to movie is almost ingenious.  My personal favorite movie is still Two Towers, but it\'s impossible to argue true quality of any one over the others.  Heck, they were all shot at the same time by the same people.  I still wish some more serious characters got whacked though, but that\'s not the way the story goes.  Sam being forced to push Frodo into the fires of Mount Doom with the ring would\'ve been completely gut-wrenching.  Call me Shakespearean, but it seems like Frodo was supposed to die on this quest.
