i am and am not sure this has been posted, but could not muster reading 400 some odd posts to find out. saw \'into the wild\' last night, and it blew my mind. really made me think about my life and what really does and does not matter. serious flick that will leave an everlasting impression on me probably every day i live.
have to read the book now

Into The Wild was good. I liked it for the most part, but the sister\'s narration
really got on my nerves.
Beautiful camera work and some great relationships to watch unfold. The old man was heartbreaking.

**** he was doing, but went and did it anyway. no way he should have survived the way he went up there. thing is he followed a life long dream, the \'alaskan odyssy,\' and hated his "perfect" life he had with all the money and power his parents soaked themselves into, and he could have had if he wanted. really thought this flick was inspirational to the max. it helped me know i can be who i want and not worry about

Definitely doesn\'t sound silly. I was SUPER hyped about this movie before it came out. I had just gotten back from my stint as a trail worker out in Washington state so.. Actually I hung out with you at a couple of shows when I was out there, bought you a shot and a beer in Vancouver. But yeah when I saw previews I read up on the story and think I was let down because I had too much in the bag going in. I absolutely agree that his "go after what you want" attitude was very inspirational but got a little worn out on the total self-interest. Actually, what I really took away from the movie was one of his closing statements: "Happiness is only real when it is shared." Devastating because of the state he wrote it in, but he seriously felt like a martyr (for me personally) at that moment because I\'ve struggled in the past with wanting to run away on my own, and those thoughts usually come in floods if I\'m depressed. It was in that moment that he realized for the first time in his wild life how important other people are to the individual. I think a lot of people struggle with that, especially in America.

yeah that scene made me feel very sad for him, because that was the first time, it seems at least, that he realized how much friends/family really mean, not just how objects and possesions affect people. it sucks that it took so long to realize it since he was dying then and could not take advantage of it, even though he threw his identity and family away. at any rate, i think this movie somewhat changed my life, and im sure that sounds more cheesy than the previous. ditched his family, claimed he did not have one anymore, and peaced out. crazy how much your parents affect the rest of your life by the how ever many years you have or have not spent with them. great flick tho. like i said, really seriously made me think hard even after the credits flashed by

just finished this book last week. looking forward to watching the cinematic version of it. i specifically wanted to read it first before watching the movie. from all your comments, the movie seems like the story was really inspirational but no way did the book make me want to drop everything and live my existence in the wild. don\'t get me wrong, the book was good, it was more of a page-turner, and explained the reasons why chris mccandless did the things he did. it was a very good story about an interesting young man.

I\'d say outside of them dying in Alaska, it is not very similar. Grizzly Man had very specific plans, Into The Wild Man basically didn\'t have any. Anyways, the fact that they are both true stories should be enough to give them each their views.
But to answer your question, I don\'t know. I relate with Into The Wild more, Grizzly Man still doesn\'t seem real to some extent. Treadwell was absolutely insane and if you\'re asking who was a bigger badass (which I don\'t think you are) hands down Grizzly.
