Thanks Dave, I will try and steer clear of these companies and their products (although P & G might be hard). He has done too much good to be treated like this. Those corporate
****.
Censorship via intimidation by the P.C. fascists is a growing and alarming trend. Even if Imus stated a fact about black people (example - 70% of black babies are born to single moms), he would still be castrated for "hate speech".
Shame on the advertisers for jumping on the bandwagon - neglecting that most Americans are likely not offended by Imus or his remarks.
The same people who are calling for his dismissal likely also claim to be champions for free speech - the protesting types who frequently open their big, fat, perverted mouths whenever/wherever they please and are always antagonizing others in public (those who choose not to listen to Imus can change the channel, whereas those targets who are subjected to the rants of radical public protests cannot do the same).
Going on Sharpton\'s show was a bad move that leveraged the campaign against him.
Not me though,I don\'t listen to any one sided talk radio. Just Rush Limbaugh in the afternoon followed by collin on wtic, npr at night and bbc world feed in the early morning. All of which is 100% middle of the road non-offensive.
that may be a joke, i\'m not sure, but if not, i just want to say that imus really isn\'t one-sided at all, and this just goes to show that people know absolutely nothing about the man.
all sarcasm. Like I said, I\'ve never listened to him, so I have nothing bad to say. I know Dave\'s been listening to him for years, so he must be really pissed by this.
<-for free speech in all of it\'s horrible beauty. If you don\'t want to listen to the kkk when they come to town to march, protest by NOT GOING/NOT LISTENING, but they have the right to say their views on things same as any other group does. That\'s extreme, but the point is the same. If you don\'t like what he said, fine, but he has the right to say it, and you have the right to say he\'s wrong and explain why you think that, and I have the right to say you\'re both crazy and I don\'t want to listen to either of you, but I\'m not going to have the KGB come throw you in jail for it! That\'s why I love this country. :flag:
not sure how accurate that list is, as the president of bigelow tea is on the show right now..
see, explain this to me, because cnn just intro\'d the segment with "msnbc shock-joc Imus was pulled..." :hscratch:
This has nothing to do with free speech or freedom of speech
Don Imus works for a company. They have every right to hire and fire who they please. I don\'t necessarily agree with their decision but this is the USA and the company has every right to look out for their bottom line and their stock holders as they should.
Don Imus is not being arrested for what he said and the government isn\'t the entity who fired and or dropped him.
If any one of you were in a corporate job and said something similar you would likely have to answer to HR if someone complained and very well could be terminated for it.
I think it is silly when Black America puts this kind of effort in to take down a white guy when what he said wasn\'t all that bad and many more hateful hurtful things are said about women of color everyday on radio and in music or TV etc. Many of the people doing it are also people of color so the hypocrisy runs deep.
Here is a great article about this whole mess

I listen to Imus on my way to work in the morning. He rips everyone,
I can see why the Rutger\'s b-ball team would be offended, but it should not be blown out of proportion like this.
Imus does good for many people, he was the first to break the news about the veteran\'s hospitals unsuitable conditions.
Whenever race issue comes up- here comes Al and Jackson. They should watch themselves, they are no saints.
a lot of people are bringing up Tawana Brawly(sp).
Did you hear that Jesse Jackson was going to pay for the stripper\'s college education.
The stripper that lied about the 3 Duke lacrosse players?
If Howard Stern said this, I wonder what would happen?
Did anyone catch snoop dogs response to this...I cannot believe he was given air time for a quote on msnbc last night.
I SUPPORT IMUS!!
An outrage and an embarrassment. Long live Imus!

Well the good news is now that Imus has been fired, racism in America ceases to exist. In other words, one of the biggest mounds of bullshit in our country\'s history just got a cherry on top. I hope everyone who caused this to happen is happy. And I know they are.

better get that sirius subscription started/renewed, he\'ll be on howard 101 within a couple weeks.
Horrible, ok how about they fire Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson for their comments about the Duke Lacrosse thing! They didn\'t even appologize! Bullshit!
Dave, thanks for find this one. It\'s a very good read.

Those shitbags never do the required due diligence and leap to the black side of things every time, no matter how bogus the situation is.

Imus should take his troops (likely much larger a support base than Sharpton and Jackson combined) and mass protests against their sleazy, has-been behinds.

Since his core audience has gone nowhere (all the outrage is from non-Imus radicals and race-baiters), hopefully he\'ll resurface on an independent network. Though many here would probably despise Michael Savage (a very conservative radio host), he is independently syndicated to 360 stations nationwide. I\'m sure Imus will land on his feet, though the crusade and pony show to oust him cannot be easy to digest.
