In your opinion which do you think has the most influence, biggest audiences worldwide?
Unfortunately, probably U2 or some hackneyed act like them....
Now, WHO should be the biggest rock band in the world is a question that can be answered with two words:
Porcupine
Tree
In September......Led Zeppelin will once again be at the top. Jimmy Page said yesterday, "it will happen!!!!!!"
But right now if you\'re talking ticket, CD, DVD and merch sales...it\'s Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana)...

Rolling Stone mag recently reported that if The Stones, U2 or the Who were touring right now, she would out sell them. Ouch....... the POWER of marketing.
HMMM?

Tim in a long blonde wig?

??
Adrian with his own sitcom?

?? Matt O as his alter ego "Connie Connecticut".....it could work. Someone call Disney...NOW.
Interesting............................
Wesley Willis
Rock It To Russia!
biggest audiences would have to be stones. Most influence is probably u2 though.
have to agree with kaliguitar though, if ldz is an option I think they would destroy the stones in ticket sales.

Not sure that I would call U2 a hackney band; they\'ve been pretty consistant over the years. As for Hanna Montana, I wouldn\'t include her because it\'s not like adults are going out it droves to see her shows (it\'s their kids who want to go to the shows). We saw the same thing with New Kids on the Block and the Spice Girls; and again I wouldn\'t consider them a rock band, more of a pop fad. I would have to throw Springsteen into the mix. I know that there isn\'t a lot of love on this site for him, but when he sells out 15 dates in one city on one tour and 10 on another and continues to sell out all around the world, that\'s pretty substantial.
Led Zep
The Stones
The GratefulDead
If oyu count ticket sakes it\'s mos def the Stones!!

I think being alive was an unspoken precursor to being the biggest band in the world.

WW did have a great 2003 run, which stopped at valentines in albany. plenty of top-notch headbutting took place.
Radiohead without question.
Or the Muthafukin\' Disco Biscuits!
tho i hate U2 and the stones, its friggin them.
pearl jam and radiohead are more creative and inspiring, however.
(bono doesn\'t hold the record for biggest piece of
****, he IS the record!)

Exactly why I started this thread. U2 while not my favorite band by a looooooong shot to me are the epitome of a Reigning Rock Band.
They have it all in spades.
Of those 4 I would rank them as follows
Rolling Stones
U2
Radiohead
Perl Jam
As far as # of people attending a show.
Led Zeppelin will shame all previous reunion type concert attendance / sales if they tour of course.
As for influence on culture etc none of these bands is close to the rolling stones. U2 is a way distant 2nd. The rolling stones are rock-n-roll and have been for more than 40 years
