With all of the YouTube "research" needed for this video, you would think that they would have stumbled across this gem (added to YouTube in October, 2007) that completely beat them to the punch:

well, you can say south park "beat them to the punch" too, but there\'s something to be said about execution. the video you posted is essentially a slide show and a list of references. wow. weezer actually incorporated all of these things into their video, which i think is fantastic. original idea? no. but executed terrifically? definitely.

here\'s another prime example of the same thing:

this video was posted to youtube on 08/31/06; almost 10 months before My New Haircut was posted. the difference? this has 43,000 views. MNH has 15 million plus. why? execution.
