Well I listened to the album again at work today... its definitely growing on me.
I think part of my beef earlier on was because I\'ve been listening to the Grand Rex and Rock Am Ring shows from a couple months ago, and the live versions definitely have more energy and "Starz" is just trippier sounding live because of whatever synth effect they used.
But I definitely enjoyed listening to it all the way thru today.
just wanted to mention that after a few weeks, and several listens later, i completely stand by this statement. my favorites are Doomsday Clock, That\'s The Way, Tarantula, Starz, and Bring The Light, but there\'s really not a song on the album i dislike.
fitz, have you come around on Starz yet?? that\'s one song that REALLY jumped up for me after a couple listens.

starz is still my least favorite track, but only because i really really like every other track on the album. i burned a copy of zeitgeist with all the bonus tracks in their proper place on the album. i like it a lot more with all 15 tracks. it might seem kind of weird if you are used to listening the version with none of the bonus tracks. have you listened to it with this track list yet?
01 - Doomsday Clock 02 - 7 Shades Of Black 03 - Bleeding The Orchid 04 - That\'s The Way (My Love Is) 05 - Tarantula 06 - Starz 07 - United States 08 - Neverlost 09 - Death From Above [Bonus Track - Best Buy] 10 - Bring The Light 11 - (Come On) Let\'s Go! 12 - Stellar [Bonus Track- iTunes] 13 - For God And Country 14 - Pomp And Circumstances 15 - Zeitgeist [Bonus Track - Target]
Smashingpumpkins.com has some details regarding the upcoming touring plans for the band.
As stated previously, the band will be heading out into the United States for the first time in 2008 during August. This tour will be for fun and will consist of unique sets and songs. Expect this tour to visit mostly smaller-sized venues.
Whereas the August dates will be at smaller venues, the November 20th Anniversary shows will be at large venues. We can confirm the band will be playing in New York, Chicago, L.A. as well as additional cities that have yet to be announced. These shows will focus on the band\'s history, legacy, and accomplishments over their career.
The Gish era tour will be moved to early 2009 to make way for the 20th Anniversary shows this November. Discussions are still taking place regarding which cities will be played.
Billy Corgan had this to say about the current tour line-up for 2008:
"The August tour is going to be a blast... Expect a very loud and raucous show from us...and we are very, very happy to know we will finally be playing our own shows come November in New York, L.A., and Chicago... The 20th Anniversary shows will be magical... We are already working on lots of surprises"
Thanks to everyone that waited patiently for news over the weekend. Dates will start being announced shortly so stay tuned!
Last night\'s show at the Aragon was one of the best I\'ve ever been to, period. Show on 11-21 @ the Auditorium was sick, but was absolutely blown away by last night. Unfuckingreal. The band, and especially Billy, were feeling real good from the start. The crowd was lit and loud and their sound soared. I think last night proved the need for a G.A. crowd for a bang like the Pumpkins. The feeling was way more intimate than at Auditorium, and it really sustained the heat.
The setlist was thick with old hits for sure, but each tune placed so well and nailed every time. Billy explained a little bit of what was behind the setlist:
It really was a perfect blend of old biggens and new rockers, the energy was top-shelf the ENTIRE show.
Tonight opener a perfect choice for a "true" homecoming show (imo), Gossamer was HUGE (arguably the highlight), Zero was a treat, United States brought the heat, Tarantula, Mayonaise, Ava Adore, everything was awesome. Again I think the G.A. atmosphere played into everything much more than people realize, especially for the music.
Has anyone purchased mp3\'s/cd\'s of recent live shows off of their official website? I\'m wondering how the quality is/if they\'re worth buying? SBD\'s?
