The Ryan Montbleau Band is definitely blowing up. They have a very unique sound for the "scene".
They have a HUGE female following which always = $$$$$
As a matter of fact the day they opened for RAQ\'s CD release party, Ryan was on Boston Mornign TV. They did a nice quick interview with him and then he played solo acoustic tune. The reporter asked him a few questions about the band and being on the road etc.
Their music has mass appeal, the musicians are great and they seem to be very nice guys
ya, i went to go see them at the Wheelhouse up here in RI..... 80% atleast.....woman. it was alright, i didn\'t really find it dance worthy but some people were getting down. the whole first set everyone was sitting down drinking and watching. i don\'t know, it just boggles my mind sometimes. and they pretty much only tour the east coast. they just have early Dave Matthews-ish appeal i guess
Sitting down

?
hmm. thats weird. I have seen Ryan solo a bunch as well as with the band and have never seen a crowd just sitting around.
I don\'t think they have a DMB sound at all but I think you mean the appeal. I will say this about the band. I love their music and ryan writes really great lyrics etc.
I think right now they do the most eclectic covers of anyone playing right now. At vibes they did a Killer "She Blinded Me with Science".
At Wormtown they had Melvin Sparks sit in and they just tore it up.
Ryan always says really nice things about The Breakfast when he is playing prior to their sets. He gives them pretty good shout outs etc.
They also tend to hangout at festivals and are very approachable folks. they have the "in" with the Terrapin Crowd as wells so all of that is very helpful to their success
ya, i ment appeal-wise. the guys seemed pretty cool, approachable at set break, cool down to earth guys. i just can\'t believe the leaps and bounds in a matter of a year to a couple months.
curse you kindm\'s, i get back from lunch and read this post only to find you\'ve already said everything i wanted to say :banghead:
they\'re one of MY favorite bands and I showed you that interview and I told you about raq and now you\'ve stolen my thunder :sadban: surprised you didn\'t mention that ryan was nominated for a boston music award :banllama:
i honestly think they are going to be HUGE within a year or so. they have the talent to back the hype and some of the more recent additions to the band (mainly yahuba garcia of percy hill on percussion) have given them a more diverse sound.
it also helps immensely that they have a very strong network of musical peers, mainly the assembly of dust family and the peter prince family, which really hooks them up in and around the boston area markets.
for a band that has basically only been touring since 2003/2004, their success is amazing and quick. i recommend everyone hit a show at least once. may not be for everyone, but lots of people will fall in love with the ryan montbleau band. i sure did!!!
yay yahuba (whee) and ryan and LARRY and crew!!!

jellybeans and sunshine all the time...
p.s hi melanie, i\'m smitten too
