it would be more fitting for a \'the trees\', \'witch hunt\' \'cinderella man\', \'new world man\', \'big money\', \'bravado\', \'far cry\', or some such political message given the nature of the show but a tom sawyer would do nicely.
It would be funny as hell in a super nerdy-rush kind of way if they did \'fly by night\', which was the last song they did when on american television. that reminds me, have to set the tivo before I head out for timmy tour!
I liked the appearance but I really wish that Colbert would have let them actually play without being interrupted by him. It was totally unnecessary to have him talking over the band while they were playing.
I also thought the sound was really really good, just sucked they didn\'t get to finish a whole song.
They should have just had Colbert do the interview and then let Rush play as much as possible in the 30 minute slot. Having him go on and on about his producer being a huge fan and all the lead in stuff was stupid. Just get out of the way and let the band do what they do.
What percentage of the Report\'s audience are big enough rush fans to sit through a couple few songs?
What percentage of the Report\'s audience would rather watch Colbert mock himself/them with music they\'ve heard a few times on the radio?
Though you have a point, the Daily Show let Coldplay play like 2 full songs, uninterupted.
Rush > > > > > > > > Coldplay.
From the looks of the crowd that I saw they looked like Rush fans to me. They were going nuts and I thought I saw a banner or 2.
Colbert is getting a bunch of good music on his show over the next few weeks. If they want to bring this element they should respect it. It sounded like Rush was killing it. It is just like when you listen to the radio and a good tune comes on and your about 2 or 3 minutes in and some **** DJ comes on and does some stupid shtick or they fade out to a commercial before the song ends. I HATE THAT
"you\'re known for writing some long songs. Have you ever written a song so epic that by the end of the song, you were actually being influenced by yourself at the beginning of the song because it happened so much earlier in your career?"
