Merl Saunders passed away this morning from complications related to the stroke which he suffered in 2002.
Def. one of my favorites. He will be missed!!

got the news a few hours ago. Such a bummer. Was lucky enough to see some shows and got a chance to say hello and shake the mans hand several years ago. He played a solo show just up north from us at this tiny place, maybe like 40 - 50 people, sit down type of place. Was amazing listening to him tell stories and play.
