Metallica Taps Rick Rubin
Feb 20, 2006

Metallica will turn to the producer who put Neil Diamond back on the map.

In a post on the aging head-bangers? web site, Metallica revealed it will work with producer Rick Rubin (Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, Beastie Boys) for its next album. Although no album name or projected released date was revealed, the act?s entered the studio to kick around ideas with the producing legend.

?Since this Rick dude is new to all of this, we thought it would be a nice gesture to help break him into the music business by asking him to produce our next record,? the band?s statement read. ?We\'re very happy he said yes! In other words, we are psyched to share with you that Rick Rubin is producing the next Metallica album!?

unfortunately, i don\'t think even Rick can save this band.. i\'d love to be wrong, but after all that was promised with St. Anger, and having it end up being one of the biggest pieces of **** i\'ve ever heard, i\'m not very optimistic.

Yea, st. anger was absolutely horrible. I didn\'t think they could get any worse than load and re-load, but they found a way. The only saving grace on it is that the drums are some of the best I\'ve ever heard recorded, even for a metallica album.

not sure if you\'re being sarcastic or not, but the drums on St. Anger might be the worst thing my ears have ever experienced. they sound like they were recorded un-mic\'d, in a bathroom, with a handheld tape recorder. :wah:

unless you\'re talking about the drumming...

but honestly, i was really psyched for St. Anger because it promised to be Metallica going back to their roots. i got it the day it came out, listened to it once, and it never made it back into my cd player.

well I\'m not a metal fan in general but Rick Ruban is the MAN!  anyting he touches turns to gold (or platinum ;) )  But like I said I don\'t listen to metal (except Rage) and def didn\'t hear St Anger (what a dumb name for an album in the first place)
