So I just got back from seeing Raq @ Winston\'s. I was not really all that impressed. I have never heard a band sound so similar to Phish, yet unlike Phish they are not as talented then again not many are now huh? Song structure not as inventive but definetly modeled after the 4 from Vt. Decent players for sure but nothing to get excited about. There were moments where i was having a blast but i could not shake the feeling all night that I had heard all this before. The keyboard player even sounds like Trey singing. Trippy indeed.
They are worth checking out if you have nothing better to do on a night they are in town but I would not put them on my concert calender. I was hoping for a better experience and the crowd was mildly into them but overall I would say it was def. a $5 show not the $6 they charged. For perspective The Breakfast cost $10 to see @ Winston\'s and you feel lucky to pay that little.
This was only my experience and I wish only the best for Raq and hope they can shed the Phish influence a bit more and grow to be the entertaining band that they have the potential to be.
yup.. that\'s a common criticizm of raq.. imo, they sounded more like phish a couple years ago than they do now, but... yep..
i\'ve only seen raq once, but I thought they were pretty good.
Todd Stoops was a highlight of the show I admit and when the guitar player did not look like he was struggling for every note he was fairly "on" also but overall
HEY!
You two!
Dont make me pull this car over and come back there!!!
Time for everone to pull their pants up. I think there is some bunching of panties going on.
Leith.....
It is impossible to get a true impression of someone via a messageboard. This is an ironclad truth in life. Freddie has one of the biggest hearts of anyone I have ever met in my life.
and I dont think I said Wah was a bit out of his head. and if I did it was only because I was nowhere near my head in Vegas...
