Question for NYC area people

Anyone know of any worthwhile music, or anything worthwhile actually, to check out on Sunday Nov 2? It would have to be at night since we\'re seeing a matinee at 3 and then getting dinner.

Thanks!

Phil would be great but no way can I make a show that early... Sucks that we\'re going to be there on a Sunday night... I have a feeling we\'re not going to be able to find anything.

Man, if you can catch Derek Trucks, that would be pick #1.  Otherwise, get a copy of the New Yorker and get creative.  There\'s always something going on.

At the Jazz Standard on 27th street between park and lex:

The Carla Cook Quintet at 7:30 p.m.
with special guests from Trionada

Carla Cook – vocals
Jon Cowherd – piano
Kenny Davis – bass
Bruce Cox – drums
Steve Kroon – congas, percussion

Detroit native Carla Cook brings all her influences to bear within her repertoire: Motown R&B and European classical music, down-home blues and sanctified gospel. Carla’s first Maxjazz CD, It’s All About Love, was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1999. “She phrases as naturally as the sun sets, and on ballads and down-tempo standards her blend of sung melody and speech rhythms practically glows...” (Chicago Reader)

The Jazz Standard also has some of the city\'s best BBQ from it\'s restaurant portion, Blue Smoke.  Highly recommended from a food standpoint.

Blue Smoke is AWESOME BBQ
I ate there last year or so. Met my sister and a few of her friends there. The Bar is awesome, tons of beer choices and it is huge, high ceilings and open very bright. The food is really really really good. If you like BBQ I highly suggest eating there. The Mac n Cheese is to die for. I have not had a better Mac-n-cheese anywhere. I even order 1 to go as my companions ended up eating mine. I got the rib sampler (st louis, texas, etc etc)

There are actually several awesome BBQ joints in NYC. Several of the top 10 in the country are in the city.

Blue Smoke
Dinosaur BBQ (Original is in Syracuse I think) Harlem
Spankys (it is OK, kind of pricey as it is in the time Sq. area)
there are several others but I cannot think of them at the moment.
