AN ANNOUNCEMENT FROM TREY 05.25.04
Last Friday night, I got together with Mike, Page and Fish to talk openly about the strong feelings I\'ve been having that Phish has run its course and that we should end it now while it\'s still on a high note. Once we started talking, it quickly became apparent that the other guys\' feelings, while not all the same as mine, were similar in many ways -- most importantly, that we all love and respect Phish and the Phish audience far too much to stand by and allow it to drag on beyond the point of vibrancy and health. We don\'t want to become caricatures of ourselves, or worse yet, a nostalgia act. By the end of the meeting, we realized that after almost twenty-one years together we were faced with the opportunity to graciously step away in unison, as a group, united in our friendship and our feelings of gratitude.
So Coventry will be the final Phish show. We are proud and thrilled that it will be in our home state of Vermont. We\'re also excited for the June and August shows, our last tour together. For the sake of clarity, I should say that this is not like the hiatus, which was our last attempt to revitalize ourselves. We\'re done. It\'s been an amazing and incredible journey. We thank you all for the love and support that you\'ve shown us.

just got the email.. wow.
R.I.P Phish
Thanks for the memories. . .
Thanks for finally giving me a chance to save some money.....
my buddys thoughts upon hearing the news....
i look at this as a liberation from the worry and bother of not getting tickets, paranoia of being arrested, dying, smelling bad things, feeling horrible, smelling bad, driving, walking, dancing, peeing in bottles and or cups or on peoples heads, throwing up, throwing up on people, throwing up on myself, trying to kill myself, watching other people kill themselves, pooping in my pants, peeing in my pants, puking in or on my pants, coughing, smoking, eating bad food, not eating food at all, waiting in line, cutting in line, snorting lines, and finally hating everyone around me except for 3-people. As a famous man once said, "FEE AT LAST, FEE AT LAST, THANK GOD ALMIGHTY I AM FEE AT LAST!"
what a way to go out -
though i haven\'t added them up in a while, if my calculations are correct, my final show will be #100.
**** finally.... Jeez. What a circus it\'s been. And the music has been pretty bad since hiatus, no?
Pretty staggering announcement, though. Took a lot of people off guard I would say.
All other bands -- get ready for the next phase of life!! This is huge for the breakfast..!
I agree with Rusty that this is huge for other bands. I may be mistaken but is this not how moe and others got decently big, when Phish was on hiatus? All you "moe.rons" in the Breakfast family lemme know if I am mistaken. . .
moe\'s actually been on a steady pace, not really related to hiatus. Actually they failed to grow really, during the hiatus. They didn\'t write enough new material.. and they got stale to some people. Definitely the northeast. Take NYC for instance: moe has gone back to Roseland after doing the Beacon.
I could see them getting some momentum now.
Watch out for the disco biscuits, and other "dance bands". If nothing else, phish culture has morphed into some sort of ecstasy / rave / electronica demand. No?

Totally agree here, and also that Moe. will probally be the next "big" thing. I know i\'m fired up for seeing them next friday. I also think that if more people actually get to hear the breakfast, they could get big, fast.
On another note, I think that the breakfast should do a bit more experimenting in their techno-type psychodelic jams. I think their great now, i\'d just like to hear them do more of them because their really good at them and they seem to get the crowd into dance mode more. Raq is starting to jam out a bit more now, and i\'ve been seeing more and more people get into them.
Gotta disagree weekapaug. Leave the techno to the biscuits and moe. - sci have gone increasingly techno and it\'s not really working - live it works, but it doesn\'t stand up to repeated listening.
Let\'s keep the breakfast rocking!!!
