This is for Spacey and Mandler..

"Flight of the Newborn"
By Chick Corea and Return to Forever

A rocking number off their masterpiece "No Mystery". While it doesn\'t highlight Corea\'s proficient playing it gives you an idea of what style he has. I\'ll post more Corea songs tommorow...  Dig Al DiMeola\'s solo and Clarke\'s deep bass groove. This is some sexy ****. Enjoy!!

"True Companion"
By Donald Fagen

It\'s appropiate to post this song on the eve of the release of Donald Fagen\'s first solo album in over 10 years!!.  "True Companion" can be found on the Heavy Metal soundtrack and also on Steely Dan\'s "Gold". I dig how it builds up, has a few vocals, then ends abruptly. Definetly an out of charachter Fagen song.

"Sqaurer For Maude"
By
National Health

So I finally picked up National Health\'s first two studio albums, which are very difficult to come by. I laid down, put on my diesel headphones and was blown to heaven and back. I hate finding such incredible music because it pushes me to waste more money buying cd\'s. I need to buy like 4  shitty cd\'s in a row so I\'ll be content with what I already have and save up some money. Anyways, these guys were the unsung heroes of the Canterbury scene(at times Bill Bruford and Steve Hillage of Gong fame were band members). The best way to describe there music is by calliing it dreadfully human. I don\'t know, it taps into this raw enery source inside you and puts you on an emotional train ride.   Everyone knew they were the **** best of the best, but due to poor business decisions and constant lineup changes  they never **** opein into the mainstream.  This is some of the best fusion ever made. Enjoy!!

"I\'ve Got It Bad, And That Ain\'t Good"
By
Keith Jarrett

Keith Jarrett is one of history\'s finest piano players. His virtuostic gift of fusing jazz and classical has made him one of America\'s finest musicians. This is a solo take on Duke Ellington\'s "Ive Got It Bad, And That Ain\'t Good". Oz fans will remember this song as performed by Tobias Beecher at the Oz talent show.

"Beat Box Guitar"
By Adrian Belew

This track is off Adrian Belew\'s (of Zappa, Davod Bowie, King Crimson fame) album "Side One", a three sided concept album, which will see  completion in April with the release of Side Three.  This song showcases the amphibious nature of Belew as he plays every instrument on the track. In my opinion the three Belew Side\'s are his "swan song".

Mr. Wiggles
by
Parliament

One of my favorite Parliament songs, "Mr. Wiggles" is a unique example of layering as the song starts out with a funky ostinato bass line (which I learned how to play yesterday!!) and every few measures a new instrument is added and continues the same pattern of playing throughout the song.  This has grown to be one of my favorite P-Funk songs.  Recommended for lap dances.......Go wiggles

ahh, mr. wiggles.. off my personal favorite Parliament cd, Motor Booty Affair. though my favorite song would probably be Motor Booty Affair - definitely the darker side (if there is such a thing) of Parliament. great album.

Totally Dave, that groove is just too damn hypnotic. I definetly will be posting it in the near future for everyone to hear.  For awhile Motor Booty Affair was impossible to find in stores. I finally tracked it down as an import and lo and behold a few months later they remastered and re-released the latter of the Parliament catalog!!

"It\'s Your Turn"
By Guru Guru

Kraut Rock, music derived in the German underground scene during the late 60\'s to early 80\'s, otherwise known as a past look into what music became or what could\'ve been. Guru Guru exemplified the Kraut Rock defintion by experimenting in psychedelic impriovisaitons, electronic downtempo grooves and jazz-rock. "It\'s Your Turn", is a combination of all three qualities that Guru Guru possessed. Enjoy...

"Mr. Wilson"
By John Cale

velvet Undergound co-founder John Cale had a wonderful solo career, which lies between perfect pop music and the avante garde. "Mr. Wilson" is an example of his pop side. Off the album "Razzle Dazzle", "Mr Wilson" features Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music and Brian Eno.

Hate Zone"
By
Brand X

BRand X was Phil Collins\' fusion band in the late 70\'s/ early 80\'s. They rock, they\'re funky as hell. Enjoy.

PS
Don\'t let the Phil Collins involvement scare you away, this **** is the heat and he doesn\'t sing (even though I think his singing is spectacula,r I know that most people assume that Phil is a douche, which he\'s not ).

\'84 Pontiac Dream"
By
Boards of Canada

Boards of Canada has grown to become one of my favorite bands in the past 4 months.  I can\'t believe I hadn\'t heard of them before. Some of the prettiest ambient, electronic, mindboggling music.  This is off their latest album called "Campfire Headphase".
