Joe, i really enjoyed that Popol Vuh track, and that Nektar joint was pretty cool stuff, although im struggling to see where you would even make a comparison between them and floyd, aside from both bands using the same instruments? I was never a very big Brian Eno fan, and it seems fair to say that my feelings have not really changed there, but youre throwing out a nice variety of genres and styles there bro. If you want to talk classic late 60s early 70s soul/r&b, hit me up cuz thats what i mine for the days. keep em coming
Cool Blackie. Eno takes some time to "get", or maybe he\'s just more on the abstract, ,who knows? Yeah, you need to buy a full Nektar album in order to get the comparison. A lot has to do with psychedelia ala the earlier Floyd years and then the epicness. I\'ve talked to a lot of old timers and they agreed that Nektar owned Floyd back in the day, the only problem was, get this: "shitty management and distrubution deals" (kind of like another great band I know of). In fact Zappa approached Nektar when he was looking to rebirth the Mother of Inventions and asked them if they would serve as his band. They refused because they were too enamoured in their own career, which in retrospect seemed like the right thing to do. I mean, I dont know how different life would be without the Roxy Band, but I\'m sure this would be an alternate musical universe!!
Joe that Caravan tune is incredible!
Hey, you\'re slacking on the song additions... get on it buddy!
Wow, he made it 7 days. That\'s as many days as "Joe\'s music recommendation thread" (4 days) and "Joe\'s TB news nucka" (3 days) COMBINED! But all 3 of these put together don\'t add up to the epic 21-day "Joe\'s TB review thread". That\'s 4 riveting threads Joe has dedicated to himself despite the fact the forum is loaded with threads about Breakfast news, Breakfast reviews, and other music recommendations. Maybe one day he\'ll actually start a thread that the rest of us inferior music fans are allowed to post in.
P.S. Joe, before you go off, the correct response from you is: "Yeah, you can break my balls for those threads, but I\'m really gonna make this one a good thread with a lot of cool music." Then you change the name of the thread to "Recommend your favorite music here!", tell everyone else how to post a song, and continue to post your songs in a non-condescending way. That\'s the right response.
Wow..... You have issues man.
Joe, did you ever check out any of the early 70\'s fusion of Lonnie Liston Smith?
Nah, I\'m just Statler, and you are the Muppet Show.
Yeah Al I used to lower the pitch for most of his disco material and end up with some real funky beats. I always had a fun time experimenting with "A Song For the Children". I\'ve been meaning to pick up his earlier stuff, I absolutely love it! I just never come across his good stuff in stores.
I absolutely adored this album. It made for the best dance parties back in college!!

By Weather Report
My favorite song of the Alphonso Johnson era of Weather Report. "Lusitanos" is probably Wayne Shorter\'s darkest compostion, yielding a bittersweet first half to a dark, envelope filter bass groove, packed with punchy sax lines. This soing also was a great resolution at the end, combining both the dark and bittersweet themes. Off the album Tale Spinnin\'.
