.....and i was one of the ones chanting "let phil sing" back before most of you were born, but for the love of god...whoever told him he could sing. if i hear phil doing scarlet begonias on sirius one more time i\'m gonna chuck that thing right out my
**** window. it\'s flat out surreal when someone from the band i\'ve spent my life following comes on the RADIO of all places and i am compelled to change the station. if phil would just keep surrounding himself with quality musicians that would actually practice together and if he would keep his mouth shut it would be a lot better IMHO.
rotfl & i thought this thread was going somewhere completely different! Thanks for the laughs, duane
Yeah "Let Phil Sing" kinda backfired on us. I mean the guy actually can sing a few tunes. He just chooses to sing those he should not. I mean come on when Phil belts out a Box O\' Rain from the heart or a Tom Thumb\'s Blues it is something bewildering in it\'s beauty.
I do like P&F w/ a lead singer like C.R. or Joan.

Chris, absolutely! Joan, for the most part I can do without.
phil lesh absolutely ruins beautiful tunes for a living.
i know what youre saying. id much rather hear instrumental versions of some songs than have phil butcher them. however, im glad to see he is still touring and at least he is surrounding himself with good musicians. the first night of vegoose sounded pretty good from what ive listened to.

joan osborne gave me shivers up my spine during "china doll" at the phil show at the tweeter center this summer in mansfield. absolutely mesmerizing and beautiful.
Joan won me over a few years back @ The Dead NYE.
In the usual GD fashion the Dead NYE run was phenomenal except for NYE itself. There were moments but after a majority of a clusterf&*k 2nd set ,the beginning notes of Sugaree began.
Joan stepped to the front of the stage and laid down THE Sugaree (Post Jerry). It was magnificent!
The Dead were her backing band and she sang that song with such passion and fury the entire arena was on their feet and we all knew this is why the guys kept comin\' back to the well.
Joan is alright in my book.
when she first joined the band,it seemed as if she knew the words to all the songs, but didnt necessarily know how to sing them..
Don\'t get me wrong...I have witnessed some incredible Joan and quite a bit of "barfing
**** out of her throat" Joan. I\'m not saying I totally despise her or anything, I would just rather have Chris! What I witnessed from him was incredible!!! PLUS, he plays instruments too!!! Rather than just hanging around on stage pretending to be able to...and I type it with a quiver in my finger tips...
dance!
