Doesn\'t every fully stocked bar serve Grateful Deads? If not, then their bartender is pretty terrible.
I don\'t like Grateful Deads at all... They are totally inconsistent, everyone makes them totally different. They don\'t taste that great; they\'re just strong. Heh... all of the bartenders I know tend to card ANYONE who orders a Grateful Dead... it seems to be the drink of kids who don\'t know anything about ordering mixed drinks.
But if you like \'em, so be it.
My boyfriend made a drink recently which was a variation of a long island that was pretty good. A little sweet for me, but great for people who want a REALLY strong drink that is still sweet. It\'s called Booze in a Glass. Ha. It\'s basically all of the clear booze from a Long Island Iced Tea: vodka, tequila, rum, triple sec, gin. No cola or sweet & sour mix. Then you add SoCo, amaretto, sloe gin, and just a splash of OJ. Has to be served in a pint glass to work. 8 different alcohols and a totally illegal but pretty decent tasting drink.

You have to remember I went to college from 1991-1996 They were not that common then. I had many many bartenders ask me what they were. I used to drink a lot more booze in those days compared to now. I haven\'t even thought of that drink in years until this thread
When I mentioned Smoke Stack Lightnin thats what made me think of them. Same place that had it in the jukebox made a killer grateful dead.

These days when kids who just turn 21 get booze, at least around here, they pretty much invariably get either a long island, a grateful dead, a cape codder, or a jack and coke.
Not that there\'s anything wrong with those drinks. It\'s just something I have noticed.

You can order one at any bar, but much like Grateful Deads or anything else with a bunch of different liqours, your bartender may hate you and serve accordingly.
As for OAR, it\'s simple pop music with choruses drunk people can easily learn and sing along with. That said, I\'m amazed they are not bigger.
They have been playing the Oakdale for a few years now that I remember, think most have been sellouts or close too. Never understood how they got that big so quick.

Well, every red death I have had has tasted terrible. (I\'ve never ordered one, just tried other peoples\'.)
This drink actually tastes good, and not even very strong. Just quite sweet.
Thing is you can\'t just order it in a bar because it is so far over the legal limit as far as ounces of booze per drink.
