I noticed that Hot Buttered Rum is playing tonight @ the Field.  I\'ve never heard/seen them.  Does anyone have any opinions on them?  It\'s a free show, so I figured I might just take a shot and check it out.  It\'s not like I live far away either so I\'m not really going out of my way.  Anyways... drop your two cents and let me know what you think.

I have had a hard time getting into TLG. I have a couple of they\'re shows and I\'ve listened to them a few times... I can\'t seem to get over the lead singers voice.  It just irritates me.  Their musicality and playing is awesome.  Just everytime he opens his mouth... I wanna pierce my eardrums.

He sounds like a mix between ben folds and beck to me at times... which isnt a bad thing.  I guess its just a higher pitch voice than I imagined it would be.  I couldnt tell you why I had any prenotions about what they sounded like before I actually listened to them.  It\'s just not the voice that I expected.

I\'ll have to go back and give them another try... it just left a with a negative impression of them. No sense in not giving it another shot I\'ve got like 5 of their shows on my ipod.  Thanks to ChrisF for at least one of them.

They\'re  getting there. They\'ve had Willie Waldman 2x now, the Breakfast just re-scheduled the cancelled show from December, Hot Buttered Rum... its a pretty small place too.  It\'s amazing that they don\'t charge even a small cover!

I have not heard them since Zac left but I am positive they will still bring the String Heat!

There is no Lead Singer in TLG, Josh and Trevor trade off though Trevor does sing more often and now more and more 3 part harmonies are occurring w/ Reed. Reed even sings a song or 2 now and then.
Give it another shot,couldn\'t hurt.

If you mean Trevor yeah he is.

Hey Leith... I will take your word for it and give it a shot. Unfortunately, I can\'t get to B\'lyn tonite but the next time they come around I\'ll try the live scene.  It\'s nice because we usually getta double dose when they are close to home and the Bfast boys are in town...

Light travels faster than sound. That is why some people appear bright...until you hear them speak.

Good advice - that\'s what I did and I\'ve been hooked for the last 1.5 years after not seeing them for a few before that.  It took a little time and familiarity for the songs to grow on me but they certainly did.

Yeah, they seem to book a lot of bands that almost always command a cover elsewhere.  HBR could go for $teens+ at a gig out here.

the field does a huge college crowd business that would just go down the street to avoid a cover.
