I was there at Deer Creek back in 1995
I think it was June maybe July
But Jerry was still alive

All the kids in that parking lot
They tore that fence down
And I blamed them
For the second show getting cancelled.

I really wanted to go
I saved up all of my dough
I didn\'t go to any other shows
And I got my tickets M.O.ed
And I never missed a Deer Creek show
From \'89 to \'95
I was happy just to be alive
On my yearly Indiana vacation

But that was cut short by a bunch of jealous,
party bashin\', buzz thrashin\', gate crashin\', stinky bastards

And if you\'re one of them
And you hear this song

**** you
You **** sucking motherfucker

**** You
You **** sucking motherfucker

**** You

I go there countless times every summer. It\'s already pretty certain it\'s dunzo, but hopefully they\'ll build another amphitheater closeby. I\'m just lucky to have lived an hour away from it my entire life. It really is a cool place and the air is thick with history and good vibes.

i always wonder if there was anyone ever in the crowd when that song is played who actually WAS one of those gate crashers and if they look embarassed or just cheer with everyone else and pretend like they were never there

As for the creek....the dead played there quite a bit i think and phish ripped it up there for a lot of years  but there was deffinitly a lot of wierd energy and iffy stuff about the place.

Namely the fact that they arrested the **** out of people there to make money and threw hundreds of kids in jail for years under strict Indiana drug laws, horrible judges and psychotic prosecuters. There are still people there serving multiple years sentences for things as petty one hit of acid or one e-pill. And if you got caught with anything big or multiple substances...forget it....kiss the next 10- 20 years of your life goodbye. They built a HUGE brand new multimillion dollar court house and jail with the money from busts there, sent out HUGE task forces to bust people every show into the camp grounds and parking lots and targeted anyone and eeryone who they could spot even if it was some 18 y/o kid with no clue buying a bag of herb. they didnt give a **** about the kid or his future or the fact that he was very innocent. he was going to jail and/or going to pay them lots of money for it. There are stories of horrible things like people drinking a beer, getting carded, being 20 and 8 months, getting searched, having some tiny amount of drugs for personal use and going to jail for months or years. There are hundreds if not thousands of stories like that. So really I say good riddence. Some may argue dont do the crime if you cant do the crime but this was so over the top that I for one am glad it wont be happening anymore.
