I Saw them last night in New York City. Kai Eckhardt is not with them. I believe the bass player\'s name was John Herrera. It was one set, two hours long. There were no vocals at all. It was more like a straight up jazz set, not the more funky way that they usually play. There were about 30 people there. I enjoyed the show.
I\'m down.
Carpool?
Sounds good. Still not sure if Robyn\'s doing girls night or coming with me.
Count me in. Like Alli said, after seeing them play at Camp Barefoot I couldn\'t miss this!

It\'s too bad Kai isn\'t playing with them, but I\'m sure it will still be a siiiick show :awwyeah:
edit: ugh - I decided not to go, after
actually working 5 days this past week! ( I know, I know, "n00b fo\' life!")
too bad no Kai, he\'s a very unique individual, I\'m sure it\'s still a great night of music but I can\'t imagine it\'s the same. (at least that\'s what I\'m gonna tell myself, cause I sure as hell wish I was there.)
GREAT show tonight. It was only the third show with the bass player that replaced Kai, but you couldn\'t tell. And...Mason...no funk? Are you ser guy??? Yet another band that keeps getting better and better.
I didn\'t read this whole thread; too lazy. But I am glad some of you went to this. I wasn\'t able to go to the NH show, which was a real bummer because they never play in the northeast.
Where is Kai?
Thanks for the link Dave. I was going to wait until tomorrow to look for it. That was fast!
Every single second of this show kicked ass, and they brought the funk in the trunk. Bass player concerns, I don\'t think so. Get this show!! Great venue, Breakfast should play here.
On a bad vibes note, Wild Pack busted on the street for handing out flyers. Oh and after spending $35 at the merch table and asking if I could leave some flyers on the table, merch lady threw them in the garbage. Nice move sweety.....
sweet show last night. i\'ve heard of them for a while but never actually heard them until last night. definitely a good mix of jazz/funk with a tinge of electronic in the first set...think \'the duo\' with a sick jazz guitarist and a sweet bass player. i guess they don\'t come to CT very often so i\'m glad i caught the show
Why doesn\'t the breakfast ever play the main pub???
a tinge of electronic in the first set..[/B]
Hopefully that was \'Massive\'. Definitely the highlight of the set I saw them play last May.
Garaj Mahal is most definitely one of my favorite live bands. That\'s a shame Kai is out, he\'s phenomenal. Fareed Haque is actually a guitar preofessor at Northern Illinois. I saw them a few times there and he always brings students up to jam on some tunes. Get Mondo Garaj and Blueberry Cave if you don\'t have them, great albums.

A friend of mine who did the NE shows said that he (Kai) was at the Exeter, NH show, but had to miss the next few because he had to go do some sort of recording somewhere. Weird he scheduled that in the middle of a tour, and a tour in an area that his band rarely visits, but that is what allegedly happened.
I\'m listening to the recording now... wow - they put on a great show! I can\'t wait to see them if/when they come around again.
some co-bills with the breakfast would be sick next time they make it out west...or at least an oeponing spot here or there
Fareed said that Kai is "making a lot of rubies, making Turkish pop record" at this time. I do not think he is out of the band.
