$20,000.00 for a guitar, is it worth it??

To some guy I sold it to it is. The Clapton Blackie strat is a re-make of the legendary strat, only 200 made world wide. Guitar Center owns 185 of them. We just got it here in the store this morning and my customer is on his way down to pick it up. Here are some pics and info on it!!

EDIT: just noticed these are already on Ebay....going for 37,000.00.    http://cgi.ebay.com/Eric-Clapton-s-Guitar-1956-Blackie-Fender-Relic-Strat_W0QQitemZ280053267970QQihZ018QQcategoryZ118987QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

yea, I\'m getting taken care of on this one. It was insanity though. Went on sale on "Blackie Friday" at 10am sold out by 12pm. I feel honored to have been a part of this whole thing.

Would anyone here spend that kind of money on a guitar if you had it?? I know I could think of many better ways to utilize 20 grand.

If 20K wasn\'t an issue, than it probably would not be much of a stretch to plop down $50K+ on a REAL pre-CBS strat.  I just couldn\'t spend that on a new instrument.  If something is sold as a "collector\'s item" it never turns out to be that.  Ya know?
Just looking for peace.  Seriously.

funny, they just mentioned this guitar on WCBS\'s business report on my way home from work.. it\'s cool and all, but $20k for a "replica".. eh...

the real thing was auctioned for $980k.. :wah:

bill - i just noticed your ebay link.. is that true? did these really sell out, or are they still available??

while i doubt that guitar will fetch $37k, that would be one helluva short term investment!

These are totally sold out. The only way to get one now is from someone privately who bought it from GC. 37K is not that much of a stretch, it will probably sell!

Funny how it\'s made to look like it\'s used.

Like buying jeans that are pre-ripped. heh.

Though I have never seen a pair of $20,000 jeans.

My MIM 2000 Strat w/ maple fingerboard, blue/silver/red lace sensor pickups, and 9-way in/out of phase rewire, string saver graphite saddles, and always Elixir strings straight up owns that thing.

Next upgrade for me is a 22 fret American "C" maple neck. So all together mine would have cost like $1200 and its something that actually begs to be played rather than hung up on the wall.

Oh yeah and mine isn\'t a replica of a guitar owned by a severely overrated guitarist... :duck: ... For real I\'d take a normal American series Strat over that any day

Bidding starts at $10,000. (unsigned, $30,000 w/ signature)
