Ok, to really get an idea of who is the best (or so all of us think), I have compiled what everyone has said thus far:
10 Votes Tim Palmieri
8 Votes Jerry Garcia
6 Votes Jimi Hendrix Trey Anastasio Frank Zappa
5 Votes Eric Clapton
4 Votes Django Buddy Guy John Mclaughlin
3 Votes Jimmy Page
2 Votes Jimmy Herring Buckethead Van Halen Duane Allman Chet Atkins BB King Stevie Ray Vaughn Pete Townshend David Gilmour Bill Frisell Robert Fripp Eddie Hazel George Harrison Randy California Jon Gutwillig Andres Segovia Tony Rice
The rest are all onesies and there are too many of them to list.
apparently none of you listen to classical music. :sigh:
I do, though normally not classical guitar. I have a few "musical heritege" CDs of classical guitarists that come up in shuffle time and again, but not enough to know their names.
if you know the doors "spanish caravan" the intro section is amost a note by note rip-off of a famous Andres Segovia orchestration of a classical spanish piece.
