"Crusin with Ruben..." was zappa\'s attempt to have a doo-wop band hope you weren\'t expecting something else.  "Roxy" is da **** though, hope you enjoy both of em.

Another couple of good ones (and two of my personal favorites) which no one has mentioned are  \'Chunga\'s Revenge\' and \'Weasel\'s Ripped my Flesh\'

One album that I don\'t feel is a good "gateway" album, but is unquestionably worth listening to is "Lumpy Gravy." Highly unique. Occasionally disturbing. Vastly underrated.
A dark horse.

Lumpy Gravy was the first Zappa album I ever heard and it turned me into a lifelong fan. It is a little strange for many though.

Should have mentioned Weasels earlier - got it as a vinyl twofer with Burnt Weeny Sandwich in a tiny record store in the south of France in their bargain bin. Definitely a bargain!!
