I can\'t fuckin beleive that Variteck didn\'t get in as catcher, he was ahead in votes for a good while, he certainly deserves it, one of the best in the game if not
the best in the game (current)
just be happy david ortiz got in as the starting first baseman even though he is actually a DH.
wolfman has made this argument on here many times, Papi is not a bad first baseman, and has playe dfirst base for a majority of games during interleague play and they had an unbeleivable record during that run and went something like 14 games without an error. So yes, you can say he\'s known for his bat, but that doesn\'t mean he\'s a bad fielder.
I, as a Yankee fan, made an arguement about Ortiz not being a bad fielder. Do I think he deserves to be on the All Star team? Sure, starting at first? Nope. I also think Varitek should definitely NOT be the starter for the AL team either or on the team at all this year, nor should Pudge have gotten the starting nod. This is not because I am a Yankees fan. This is due to Minnesota being snubbed at both positions this year. The numbers speak for themselves:
For the catchers:
Pudge: .301, 7 HR, 38 RBI, 38 Runs, 128 Total Bases
Varitek: .245, 8 HR, 39 RBI, 32 Runs, 93 Total Bases
Posada: .288, 11 HR, 43 RBI, 32 Runs, 110 Total Bases
JOE MAUER: .391, 6 HR, 41 RBI, 45 Runs, 148 Total Bases
I\'m happy to see that Mauer made the team over Varitek and Posada, but he should definitely be the starter. The kid is a stud and will be the best catcher in the league for many years to come, sorry Jason, Pudge, Jorge, your time is over.
For 1B (including Ortiz\'s numbers):
Ortiz: .273, 26 HR, 75 RBI, 58 Runs, 175 Total Bases
Konerko: .311, 20 HR, 63 RBI, 51 Runs, 168 Total Bases
Thome: .288, 27 HR, 68 RBI, 63 Runs, 166 Total Bases
JUSTIN MORNEAU: .298, 22 HR, 71 RBI, 45 Runs, 165 Total Bases
Thome and Ortiz are pretty much both DHs. Konerko\'s #\'s are normal for him. Morneau, who didn\'t even get a roster spot, deserves to be there. He\'s only 25, his numbers are right up there with those three who made it at 1B, and are better than the other high profile 1B in the AL (Giambi). Ortiz wins the fans vote, sure, but I\'d give the kid the start, seeing as if the game is tied or close in the later innings we all know Ortiz is the best clutch hitter in the game, and the All Star game is a game to be played to win these days.
Seeing as I am talking highly of the young guys in the twin cities, don\'t get me started on Liriano not making it. . .
Hey Paperboy, how does it feel to be a fan of something for years, to put so much time and effort and devotion into it...and then when it starts to get good some douche bag who knows nothing about it comes along and says it\'s no good it\'s all just overhyped? HUH? HUH Paperboy? How does it feel? Do you see what happens Paperboy? Do you see what happens when you **** a stranger in the ass?!?!
Now then, since everything has to be a superlative with you, congratulations on being on the receiving end of the most thorough ownage ever on .info! I feel a little bad just because owning you is so easy, but your sorry performance over the last month deserves it. Vok Shnaff...TOOL! Goodnight.
Worst ownage ever? PLEASE.......
Your favorite baseball team beat mine.
You didnt own anything with that over the top some what strange and disturbing ramble.
I think its time to face facts here.....a little reality check if you will.....
Fact #1.... You are a loser masshole with some serious issues you need to work out in other ways besides talking
**** u cant back up on the net.
Fact #2 ....You continue to make yourself look more immature, moronic and mentally unstable every time you post.
Fact #3... Your outlandish attempts to insult me are a pretty clear indicator that you have some lurking, maybe even subconscious feelings of fear, anger, anxiety, inferiority and general dissatisfaction within yourself that you should work out in other ways besides trying to ‘own’ people on message boards.
So do us all a favor and give it up already.
That being said......

I am actually lookin forward to the all star game this year!!!!
DWRIGHT IS GONNA OWN ORTIZ\'S UGLY CORNELLIUS PLANET OF APES LOOKING FACE IN THE HOME RUN DERBY MARK MY WORDS.

it should def be a contest, how does it work one player per team? what are the guidelines?
Was bummed to see Papi, loose last night, he hit some indredibly long balls too. He hit atleast one into the river in the air, a feat which has only been accomplished once in that stadium, defore last night.
So anyone watchin the all star game tonight?
Oh, I\'ll be watchin\'.
Six Mets make the team with four starters, even though Reyes\'s injury means there will just be three in the lineup. Go National League!
As far as last night, David Wright and Ortiz each had great first rounds, but clearly wore down as the night progressed. But there\'s no shame in losing to Ryan Howard, who has the most homers at the All-Star Break of any second-year player in MLB history. Still, Wright\'s 16 bombs in the first round was something to behold. Now get some hits tonight and stop this damn AL winning streak!
HR derbys are lame as they come. I\'d rather watch the celebrity softball game. I hope DWright messed up his swing for the rest of hte season. JUst look a B. Abreau this season and the 2nd half of last. But I will def. tune into some of this game for sure. Go National League. They haven\'t won in like 10 years.
^^hey man there was no other baseball on last night, so it was swapping between kicking the Yankees ass (w/ the Red Sox) in EA MVP 2004, an dthe HR Derby, once Papi was gone I wasn\'t watching it so closely
i guess not but I\'d rather watch WWE. as far as videogames why are you still playing EA MVP 2004 it\'s like two years old. instead I chose to play espn baseball 2006 for ps2.
