Congrats to the Mets. Being a Red Sox fan of only 21 years of age, I don\'t really remember what it\'s like to win a division title.
I\'ve asked plenty of Mets fans (or is that Met fans) if it means anything since it has been a forgone conclusion since June (or earlier). Apparently not. Enjoy it, and pray that you don\'t face the Padres (Peavy, Young, Wells... ouch) in the NLDS.
In an unrelated story (related to baseball, but not the Mets), I refuse to give up on the Red Sox just yet (for the wild card, of course) until they are eight or more games back. Hopefully the Twins can put me out of my optimistic misery by the weekend.

Last night was one of the craziest finishes I have ever seen in Baseball.
This division is going to the last day probably. I think the Padres will bounce back from this heartbreaker but damn!

I\'m just surprised that the frikin baseball thread was crickets from August 23rd to September 19th, right when things get really interesting. I guess I carry the thread...I mean, I made my throwing-in-the-towel post in mid August and all was quiet after that. Pitchie thanks for being the only Met fan to show up. Where are the other Met fans? Yankee fans, how pumped up are you after purchasing your 10th straight AL East Title? (The evidence is abundant...Yankee fans just don\'t enjoy rooting for the Yankees that much. It makes sense; How can it possibly be that exciting?) Cmon people it\'s late September!
Also if your team is out, who do you temporarily adopt as your team to pull for? For me it\'s my go-to 2nd choice team...

Great the Mets won the division after 14 years of Braves dominance. My question is why were they celebrating like that had just won the world series given the fact they had the division supposedly wrapped up like 3 months ago. Its just too bad they probably won\'t be celebrating like this when they lose to the Tigers/Twins in the World Series. And to all you Mets fans don\'t get too comfortable in first place, you still got 13 more to go and next season won\'t be so easy, well at least I hope not.

See what I mean people? The Yankees are about to win a division title and all you can get from Yankee Fan is an eyeroll. Nothing to say about the team, not excited for the playoffs, not really having much fun in general. I can kind of understand Yankee Fan\'s indifference though because the Patriots are approaching the same territory. Hey, Pats win...*yawn*. The difference is that the Pats somehow do it against a level, salary-capped playing field, so at least their wins are an accomplishment rather than a forgone conclusion secured through exploiting an insurmountable unfair advantage. The Sports Guy put it perfectly; rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for the house in blackjack.

I wish that I could cheer for the Mets, I really do. But I live with three Met fans who would be so obnoxious that it would be unbearable. Thus I am cheering for a "New York-less" World Series.
