GASP, Ant Bachinski, a Yankees fan, is going to stick up for Ortiz. He really is not a bad fielder. We must remember that these guys are professional baseball players who have been doing this all their lives, and most can sufficiently play any position on the field (alot of these guys were pitchers growing up and in high school too) except maybe catcher, which I feel is the toughest position to play on the field both mentally and physically. If Ortiz got more playing time in the field he would probably become a very good one bagger. His career stats at the position are not all that bad:
220 games played at first
209 starts
1774 Chances
18 Errors
0.990 Fielding %
His % has declined the past two years, but probably because he isn\'t out there. I mean,
**** I\'ll take any player on my team who\'ll make an error once out of every 98.55 times he has a chance to make a play (i probably did my math wrong).
Oh and for the record:
Ortiz is expected to play first base in two of the three weekend games in Philadelphia, the Boston Globe reports.

I appreciate the research ant, nice job! At the same time, this is the most bizarre sports discussion ever. WHO CARES how your DH fields? I care about how well my DH plays defense as much as I care about how well my pitchers hit, how much my goalie scores, how well my quarterback can catch a pass, and how much my coach can bench press.

What a win. LET\'S GO METS!!!
Great game to watch!!!
hopefully it will energize the team and get some momentum going our way!
Willie should bench floyd more and let endy chavez play.
Very good photos there Pitchie! (Not that you took them, but still...) Love Wright leading the charge onto the lush Shea Stadium grass, that\'s a great sign.
I\'m coming out and saying it right now: The Mets Are Winning The N.L. East. No doubt about it.
well i certainly called it. all we got to hear on the way to the show was the top of the 1st when the yankees scored 4. "don\'t worry, johnson\'s pitching.. the mets will be up 5-4 after the 1st." close enough. it was 5-5 when i called #121 the first time, and i just rolled my eyes..
everyone on the
**** team is injured except for the guys that need to be... like barry bonds, i hope randy johnson\'s torso falls off. bah.
game 2 here we go bebe
thank god we dont have to listen the lame ass yankee announcers today
Well, this game is off to a good start for the Mets. Let\'s see if THEIR ace pitcher can hold an early lead.
Klout, do you have the WB-11? Last night\'s game was on that instead of SportsNet New York. No one should have to voluntarily listen to those Yankee buffoons.
ahh i didn\'t think to check the WB becuase its not on 11 like the city its on 27 or something. I wish i knew though cuz those yankee guys really suck. no fun or personality or even good filler convo.
but lookin good today. pedro seems to have some good stuff. how funny was that watching damon eat dirt hahah i am still laffin about that play
chalkdust torture outro on fox! gotta love it!!!
One sandman entered and won. The other blew the game and exited.
Obviously, the Mets worst loss of the season.
chalkdust torture outro on fox! gotta love it!!!
Good catch Klout, I was gonna post about that. It was after the bottom of the 5th. I posted on here a couple of years ago about how at a game at Fenway, some Mariner came out to "Megilla". Then I went to another game that year against a different team, and some other guy also came out to "Megilla". No way that\'s a coincidence. It looks like "Megilla" somehow became the go-to song at Fenway Park for "visiting scrubs who don\'t bother to pick their song."
The Mets are going to win the N.L. East, no question
Guess I shoulda waited till after they played the Yankees to jinx them.
HORRIBLE managing of the bullpen today by willie.
Using Sanchez in the 8th up by 4 and then wagner in the 9th non save situation still up by 4. Then Julio with the game tied in the 10th? Come on. Completely idiotic and backwards.
It\'s never easy with the Mets, but taking 2 of 3 from the Yankees is always an accomplishment. Now follow with at least the same versus Philly.
must win series comin up.
Delgado is so awesome though. Every time he is up and I think to myself... "perfect spot for a home run", he cranks one without fail!
All in all the met pitching di good holding down the stacked yankee line up, except of course for wagners meltdown. We\'ll see if we can do the same with thier full line up later in year though.
9 shut out innings by the bullpen and a walk off homer by beltran in the bottom of the 16th.
**** YEA!!!!!
