Yoda, do you think drew kingsley was bitching? I did not...
So what\'s the verdict, did Joba throw at Youkilis intentionally?
On one hand, Joba had great control all night (so good that the inside corner actually expanded all the way to Mike Lowell\'s belt buckle in the ninth inning), and he has thrown at Youkilis twice before.
On the other hand, it was a 1-0 game, and Youkilis was the leadoff man in the seventh inning with All-Star caliber player Mike Lowell (Joe Crede, my ass) and All-Star MVP J.D. Drew batting behind him. Thus, putting him on base intentionally would be pretty stupid.
But, on yet another hand, the count was 2-0, and Joba could have figured that he was better off walking him then giving him a pitch to hit (of course, the Yanks lucked out big when the ball over Youk\'s head happened to hit the bat for strike one).
And of course, maybe the pitch just slipped and this is a huge coincidence. You never know.
Or.... maybe Joba\'s just smarter than the rest of us, and he realizes that the Sox/Yanks feud needs a jumpstart. Sadly, it\'s the American League, and Joba can\'t just catch a fastball between the numbers in his next at-bat against Boston to settle the score.
Either way, looking forward to two more tight games this weekend, with the Sox hopefully picking up a couple wins to keep ahead of the Yanks and in step with the Rays (who are at Kansas City and likely taking at three out of four).
In my interpretation, Drew was merely questioning whether it was intentional or not. Not a
**** or moan anywhere in his post as far as i can tell.

Thanks for saving me the effort.
Sorry - I\'m just sick of hearing about it, it wasn\'t that big of a deal. Besides the last line of the comment had Sox overtones to it, so I couldn\'t help but think that there was an alteriative motive for bringing up the topic.
Yoda, if you ever come to a Breakfast show, I\'m throwing at you. Intentionally.
You lose in 14 innings and tax your bullpen. You play the next day and your starting pitcher allows just six hits and one walk to go the distance as you win the rubber game against a solid team.
That\'s what an ace does.
Go Johan!
Let\'s Go Mets!
I\'d hate to be the bearer of bad news to all of the Red Sox fans on dotinfo but, assuming there is substance to the Jarrod Washburn rumor, the Yankees are going to win the AL East. The Yanks fulfilled two needs with Nady and Marte, and are going to fill another with Washburn. Making moves revitalizes a team. Sitting around letting a malcontent run the show ruins a team. Unless the Sox are able to deal Manny for some decent, immediate help (bullpen help and a right-handed bat to soften the effect of losing Manny), I get the feeling I\'ll be able to concentrate on the NFL much sooner than usual this fall.

been to two this year. make your pitch at the next donnegals show
Manny to Marlins: please God no. i wish he and the sox would come to terms somehow because it is looking UGLY. i got a ser man crush on manny so this has potential to be depressing
pudge to yankees !! ?? :pout: :sigh:
Trading Manny to the Marlins is accepting reality. To me, it is waving the white flag on the 2008 season. Because, yes, the Red Sox MIGHT still do well without Manny, but it\'s not the projected outcome. However, I can definitely understanding not wanting to let him go for nothing after the season. The Sox were on fire without Ortiz earlier in the season, so maybe the Sox sans Manny can turn it on, turn it on, turn it on, turn it on again.
EDIT: Just read that the Red Sox could end up with Jason Bay in the deal. If that happens, ignore the above post.

Red Sox sans Normar won the world series
you know I have very mixed feelings about this whole Manny thing. ONe half of me doesn\'t want to see one of the greatest 3, 4 combos in baseball split up, and Manny in and of himself fundamentaly is just such and amazing hitter.
BUT................. even as a Red Sox fan it\'s all just getting to be too much. TO me I think about all those guys in the clubhouse that are good attitude team players (Youk, Pedroia, Ortiz, Lowell) and how all this unnecessary drama effects the clubhouse as a whole.
I hate to say but I\'m getting to the point of saying let him go.
Omar is fuckin slackin. All these big deals goin down he his just sittin on his hands!
manny\'s safe in boston at least for the time being. pheeeeew
