i was at the game. i bought standing room only seats and ended up walking in and sitting at the lower box a couple rows back from the KC dugout. good times
As stunning as the news was, Jake Peavy?s placement on the disabled list with an inflamed flexor mass near his right elbow was not the biggest explosion in the Padres? clubhouse Monday.
After the Padres lost for the 23rd time in their last 31 games, general manager Kevin Towers went off.
?We?re bad, no question about it,? Towers said. ?And I?ve seen no signs to tell us or our fans that we?re going to turn it around.
?I?m not going to watch this for another four months. Other than our starting pitching and the back end of the bullpen? it?s all negatives except for (Brian) Giles and (Adrian Gonzalez).
?We?re not running the bases. The defense is shabby. Our 0-23 record when behind after seven innings shows we?re not able to come back. The morale shouldn?t be good. If the morale is good, we have major problems. If the morale is good, they have no expectations of being better. Morale should be horrible."
This is about 2 weeks overdue. The team should have been told they are garbage weeks ago, before the 16 out of 19 game road trip, in order to try and restore some fire in their game. This season is lost and has been since the start of May. To think, they were 8-6 at one point. Now, they\'re 16-30. I\'m still going to watch as many games as I can but for Towers to put all the blame on the players, after signing the carcas of Jim Edmonds in CF, not signing a LF and spending money on Mark Prior\'s chicken wing of an arm (who hasn\'t even pitched yet), Towers really didn\'t give them much of a chance to win. He relied way too much on pitchers to carry this team again.[/vent]

Sorry Chip, but if you were that bored with it then you wouldn\'t have read it. I do apologize if it seemed exclusionary, it was not meant just for Booz. I have come to the conclusion that in terms of teams that have rivals in Boston, the Yankees are not the worst to go play. They were annoying with all the 1918 stuff for the last, well, 90 some-odd years, but they were in no way as bad as the habs and their gay OLE chant.
Ohio state sucks too, while I\'m at it.
