Go series for the Yankees. Glad to see the sweep but there are still 29 games left or so. Lots can happen but we might see the Yanks and Sox playing for the Eastern Division title later in September.

3 steps forward 3 steps back.

These Devil Ray series were supposed to help the Yanks gain ground on the sox.

I was sitting in a bar in NH on Friday night.  When it was revealed that I\'m a Yankee fan, the couple I was talking to suggested that the bartender spit in my beer, to which the bartender replied "My spit is to good for a Yankee fans beer".  It\'s so much fun being a Yankee fan when you\'re anywhere north of Rt. 84 in New England.

It was all in good fun.  Although I can\'t speak to the number of brain cells in the house... didn\'t appear to be many.  And the barkeep was a good friend.

I see. I get irritated with Sox and Tankee fans alike when they take the rivalry thing too far. I think it\'s obnoxious.

If it\'s light-hearted, so be it. But how someone can HATE a baseball team or their fans is beyond me.

While I was at UMass, the biggest source of campus conflict always seemed to be the Yankees-Sox rivalry.  Every time there was a large gathering on campus, it never took long for a "Yankees Suck" chant to break out in the crowd.  I had seen quite a few fights/burnings of Yankees memorabilia.

Hate is a harsh word yes but sometimes it is the only word to express the utter disgust one has for a team. It can start with familial training or an event that resonates with you for life.

I "hate" the Bosox because in 1986 they crushed my 16 yr. old hopes of the California Angels making the World Series. Yes it was a long time ago and no one on either team is playing now, but it was a significant event in my baseball following life. It also does not hurt that they play in Boston home of another team I have come to loathe as a Laker fan so it all ties in together for that part of my life. Yes it should always be in good fun and most sports fans I know use words very liberally to describe how much they do not like rival teams.

New York Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez walks off the field after getting strikeout number 3,000 against Cincinnati Reds batter Aaron Harang. Martinez became the 15th pitcher to strike out 3,000 batters in his career. Taking the mound 11 months after major shoulder surgery, the 35-year-old pitcher led the Mets to a 10-4 victory over Reds, throwing 76 pitches in five innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out four and walking three.

New York moved five games ahead of Philadelphia in the NL East with their fourth straight victory.

Jersey Yankee fans fill up half the Stadium every night, so eat me!  See down here, we don\'t have to worry about Mass-Hole Sox fans (other than the occasional bandwagon jumper who goes to Champs Sports and buys the hat of the team that\'s leading the division every year); they\'re not fans anyway!  We only have to deal with Mets fans, who are not nearly as bitter as Sox fans.

I haven\'t been to Fenway since the Mussina near perfect game (and the Sox fans were pretty horrible that day) and probably will never go back (I like it on my home turf better), but hopefully winning the series a couple years ago, will make them less bitter towards those that have more world championships than them.

The Devil Rays have basically always had the Yankees number. Does anyone know what the season series record is between the two teams?
