Well, originally I planned to start this thread off with Padres related rants...but 0-6, c\'mon Boston! You\'re supposed to be WS favorites. A trip back to Fenway should do them good but they better not get too comfortable with the Yanks coming to town this weekend.

As I segue towards Padres talk, I\'m glad to see Gonzalez doing well so far. I really like him as a player and hope he continues to improve in Boston. I\'m glad they traded him when they did as Rizzo and especially Kelly look like the real deal.

I have high hopes for the Padres again. Pitching should still be legit and their bullpen is a little thinned out from last year but seems like they can carry the load once again. Their lineup improved at 2B/SS/LF/CF and only took a hit at 1B.

Here are my picks for the season.

AL East - Red Sox
AL Central - White Sox
AL West - Athletics
AL Wild Card - Yankees

NL East - Braves
NL Central - Brewers
NL West - Padres
NL Wild Card - Phillies

World Series - Phillies over White Sox

And last but not least, I\'m finally seeing a game in SD! Booked my flight yesterday. I need to audit a vendor in Anaheim and will be traveling to SD from 5/19-21. Plan to see the Brewers on the 19th and hopefully I can get back in time for the Mariners on the 20th. Leith, if you\'re still in SD and interested in going to one of those games let me know.

i really need to freshen up on my baseball so i can accurately contribute to this sports thread.   I was raised in a Yankees house watching ny channel 11 with scooter doing the play by play. However, I married a Mets fan. So i have always been on the fence who to cheer for....

I don\'t know if we are going to see 2 teams come out of the AL East, unless Tampa Bay continues to suck it up.  All the teams are pretty good and they will beat up on each other all year.  Just don\'t know if the second place team will have enough wins to come out of it with a wild card spot.  I think the Wild Card is going to come from the AL Central.  Twins and Sox.

I\'ve been a mets fan all my life.

While I understand that it is pretty easy to be a yankees fan (especially in my age group and younger), it has got to be incredibly boring.  Highest payroll, will go out and acquire the best talent, always make a deal at the deadline, etc...Don\'t get me wrong, it\'s fine and within the rules, but it is just incredibly boring.  Pretty much expect to go to the playoffs every year and if you don\'t win the world series, it\'s a disappointment.

My team might be bad, but when we are playing well it is always exciting.  If we win the division or pennant it is always special and I gotta imagine if we ever win it all it will be more fun than all of what the yankees have done in the last 11 years.  Let\'s go Mets!

I slightly skewed lead seeing as they have the same number of losses, Boston has just played two more games than the Yanks...
