Sad but true,there really isn\'t a "making it" in any of the arts anymore.
The few that do are less than the lottery winners.

There is something sick in people\'s minds, that if you don\'t draw big crowds and make lots of money, you were a failure.

Yes, but when a band slows down the tour machine because it loses money when it plays outside of a set area, money does come into play. These guys are no longer responsibility free. Sound business decisions are a necessity. Long Live TB!

My post was meant to be a blank canvas for people to paint their opinions on.
What is your definition of success as a musician?
Do you feel the Breakfast is successful by your definition?
Do you think the band considers themselves successful?
Do you think the band\'s aspirations for success have changed over the years?

Ultimately it is a very personal issue that an artist has to address in order to gain fulfillment and happiness.

They make me joyful when I am listening to their music. Artistically, it is/was pushing itself, and me as the consumer of the art, to listen to music in a new way; to hear something I haven\'t heard before and to experince something I can\'t, or don\'t, experince in every day life.

So, in my definition, they are extremely successful.

Unfortunately the world in which we live does not operate on the trading of units of joy.
