I feel like a lot of the songs on party time seem more artistic and inspired than some of the songs on joy. Listening to it front to back it can\'t compare to joy because it has no sense of flow. There are some really good songs on party time though. I am a fan.

would that make him the birdwatcher?
yea, cheesy, whatever. Anyway, gave it a listen last night and i really like this set of songs. Alaska is still a fun little ditty. I can\'t help but think of the simpsons movie whenever I hear it. Let me lie always gets stuck in my head while biking, so that\'s fun but I think the last song, liquid time is my favorite right now.
imo,it sucks.
however,it might grow on me.
however,i might not give it many more listens though.
My thought is that they went into the studio and put down Party Time. They played it for a couple of close friends, family, whatever and they basically said phans aren\'t going to go for this, it\'s not really a Phishy album and then went back into the studio and put down Joy... I personally like Party Time (minus the song party time) as a whole better than Joy as a whole, but that\'s mainly because of TTE...
so one song makes you not like an album???
how terribly myopic of you...
It\'s not that one song with ruin an album for me, but Joy itself doesn\'t do it for me "normally"... But in this case, the songs flow 3-4-5 minutes and then I get hit with a 13 minute wall of a song that I don\'t like in order to get to Twenty Years Later... I\'ve actually removed TTE from my iPod and enjoy the album minus TTE a lot more... For me, Party Time flows a lot better and there\'s no low points...

there is a whole thread on PT dissecting the progression of the album.... apparently there was thoughts to have a double album that included all songs on both Joy and Party Time... then there was a one disk, 75 min track list that included some songs from both discs that floated around as an option, then they settled on the 50 something min final version for the Joy CD that we know now...
Anyone have Daydream Nation?
i think its sonic youth\'s album, \'daydream nation\', but can\'t double check that its not just the sonic youth song of the same name since i\'m behind an evil corporate firewall. it appears to be an album sized file, 226MB, but since i can\'t grab it myself, i can\'tbe totally sure.

Yeah they should\'ve added a few songs from Party Time to Joy. PT aint so bad overall, Joy aint so bad either. I think they could\'ve made Joy stronger had they thrown tunes like Gone, The Birdwatcher, Let Me Lie, Splinters Of Hail, Shrine, and especially Liquid Time on Joy to give some diverse transitions between tracks, make it a much thicker and dynamic album. There\'s some quirky
**** on Party Time that I think would give Joy a more classically Phishy feeling. But standing alone, neither are all that good, but also not that bad.
Liquid Time is a really cool tune. Very Dead.
