Favorite Originals: Grand Scheme, Escher\'s, Mooboo\'s

Disliked Originals (not bad songs!): Phatty Boom Batty, Puppetry (like the jamming, can\'t stand the singing!), Beef Barley, Food For Thought

Best Covers: Echidna\'s Arf, One Big Mob, Peace Frog

Worst Cover:  Scarlet Begonias...heard an awful version on a live CD

I would like to ad Escher\'s and Inner Glimpse to my list of favorites.... oh yeah, and Glady\'s.

Beef Barley:  I don\'t dislike it so much as I am tired of hearing it.  Way overplayed IMO.

Also want to put Hush as one of my favorite covers.  What happened to this song??  Haven\'t heard them play it in a while...

I think Beef Barley is a little too goofy, not saying that their other songs aren\'t goofy at times.  Also, agree that its overplayed....

I third that thought, Beef Barley and Phaddy are way overplayed.  They should play these songs about 1/6 as much as they do, and spend the extra time playing good songs that they\'ve forgotten about such as Cosmic Spaceway Rhyme, Kote, Frankly Po Zest, Spunk, Garcian Fishbowl, Flower Punk, and King Kong to name a few.  Beef and Phaddy are good tunes and there have been some fantastic Beef jams, but there\'s something about the playfulness of these tunes that I\'ve never been entirely comfortable with.  And they\'re overplayed.

I\'d like to nominate Doughboy and Inner Glimpse as best new openers!

Agreed

I for one have always liked Beef Barley, but it is overplayed a bit. Love CSR too and would like to hear more Frankly Po Zest - FPZ and LDZ were two of the first mp3s I downloaded off the web when discovering the band, so they have a special place.

However, the one song I can never get enough of is Drunk Monk Bar- gotta love that guitar riff.

You know your band is good when you\'ve got songs of the caliber of the ones listed above and you\'ve forgotten about them.

on the topic of dead covers, their rendition of Shakedown Street at Cafe 9 was pretty sick if you ask me.

I love Beef Barley. The whole concept of singing absurd lyrics in harmony makes me happy.
Even Opera Singers love "The Breakfast!" - la pace fuori

I dont find those lyrics absurd...  to me they are an homage to the late chris farley...  but it makes me happy too and thats all that matters...

and as far as the shakedown street from cafe 9, that was one of the best breakfast covers i have ever seen.  up there with the callahans legend of a mind... i dont remember the date on it, but it was SICK....

I don\'t find the lyrics, as a whole, absurd. I think the song is an amazing tribute. Just the "Beef Barley" line itself, even knowing the context, makes me giggle as the harmonies enter.

I have always had this same dilemma with Puppetry. LOVE the structure and the jamming of the song, not so hot on the singing. Trip right through the sky-iye-iye... bleh.
