Which do you prefer, the SG or the Tele? It is perfectly acceptable to say you don\'t notice a difference.

I dig the SG. Tim played it the first show I saw. Plus I admit I have a Angus Young connection that I make with it.

Damn... that is a good question.

The Tele is better for funk, and stuff like the quick twangy little riff that\'s like 1:30 minutes into Gravity. Songs like Gladys Pimp I think the Tele has the edge.

For some of the more head-bangin\' songs and songs that use more extended chords and spacey solos I think the SG has the edge.

But really he\'s got his tone dialed in so well on both those guitars it doesn\'t make much difference. Plus he runs them through lots of pedals and usually has the wah goin pretty heavy so it\'s hard to tell the true tone of the guitar.

....
I\'m gonna vote for the Tele though, cuz I\'m a Fender man myself. And although I\'ve seen SICK shows with both guitars, I think some of the more outstanding ones were using the Tele.

Honestly I always hope he picks up the Tele at the beginning of the show, even if I couldn\'t care less 5 seconds after he starts playing.

Me too...

Personally I think Timmy on his Taylor is the best...
what he does with that giuitar at the solo timmy shows is something to be seen and heard.

No doubt, SG is the rock guitar, tele is a little more versatile for the rest, and bdfreetuna hit it on the head, in Tim\'s hands, it really doesn\'t matter.

The SG is definitely best for when he really wants to rip into your head....I love it.

ya know, i was just thinking about asking this very question. i saw the sg come out for the first time 3/10 @ the funkbox, and as was said above, for spacier stuff and bigger chords, i like it. but generally i think timmy just rages on that tele!! i was actually kinda glad when he broke his high e string (right at the begining of score, the proceeded to throw down on five strings without missing a beat!) and switched over to the tele. maybe i\'m biased since i\'ve sene the tele more (especially since i\'m usually not too big of a tele fan), but in his hands, that\'s the one i choose!

you cant compare them, two different sounds, if you like a little heavier rock n roll check out the SG  if you like a cleaner tone and maybe a touch jazzier sound its the Tele\'

Teles in the right hands - Jimmy Page, Syd Barrett, Tim Palmieri - are great, but you can\'t beat the sound of a humbucker! If, and I say, if - don\'t want to tempt Fate here - Tim\'s effects were to go down, leaving him with just a guitar and amp, I think it\'d be the SG he\'d have to use. Sure they don\'t sustain like a Les Paul or a 335, but I don\'t think the Tele would cut it.

It would be interesting to know which guitar was used on which track for the album.
