TABLE FOR THREE

The Breakfast continues as a trio

The Breakfast will be served by just three and not the familiar four servants when the band performs today at The Saint. Keyboardist Jordan Giangreco left The Breakfast after the funk-rock group recorded its fifth album, "Moxie Epoxy," in 2006.

Rather than find a replacement, The Breakfast has opted to perform as a three-piece band.

"We found that this configuration really works well for us," drummer Adrian Tramontano said. "Funk has always been our foundation. Since the keyboardist left, that\'s just become more pronounced. We\'re embracing the grooves now more than ever as a three-piece. It\'s just one more change. We\'re used to it."

The Breakfast, which also includes guitarist Tim Palmieri and bassist Ron Spears, has evolved with each release. The group initially was an avant band, and the mostly instrumental act made songs that often were an acquired taste. As the band matured, it embraced strong melodies and junked its off-the-wall sonic tangents.

"We discovered that we didn\'t need all of that fancy instrumentation," Tramontano said. "We became the better band for it. You learn as you get older. It\'s been (eight) years since we started this, and I know a lot more and our music reflects that."

"Experience should count for something"

Tramontano is a complex and ferocious drummer who can steal a concert.

"I should be able to perform at a high level," he said. "We all should be able to be very good live since we\'ve done more than 1,000 shows. Experience should account for something. We\'re very comfortable with each other. We know what the other is going to do before he does it."

Tramontano doesn\'t foresee a change in configuration.

"We\'re having fun with this," he said. "Why mess with something that\'s working so well? We connect well with each other. We each bring a lot of spontaneous energy, which we\'ll bring to Asbury Park. We love it there since it\'s always cooking there. There\'s definitely a scene there for music, and that\'s not so everywhere. We always have a great time at Asbury Park."

i dont know if the band collects press and stuff. but i did cut this out of the paper.  i know some bands like to collect stuff from newspaper articles.
