RAQ = Hit or Miss
The Breakfast = Hit Every Time
this has got to be one of the most negative boards on the net. I used to love to come and lurk but now days it seems like you don\'t even have to bash the breakfast, you just mention that there is other music out there and twenty people will jump on you and tell you how much better timmy is than \'your\' band. whatever happened to liking good music? none of this my band your band bullshit.
it\'s too bad cause this used to be a decent scene.

people have different tastes in music - the only reason people are on this forum is their love of
this band The Breakfast. Just because we don\'t agree on all other bands does NOT make us negative. I\'ve learned a lot from people on this board about different music styles - some I liked, and some were crap. RAQ, imo (after three SEPARATE tries and attempts at liking them) was not a favorite of mine personally. Just cuz I don\'t like it completely doesn\'t mean I haven\'t given them a chance. :sigh:
I guess I just don\'t understand why people would say negative stuff at all about something as subjective as music. if I stumbled on a bunch of people talking about how Hansen changed their life I would snicker to myself and move on, not go out of my way to say that Hansen is talentless waste of peroxide that should have been saved for a more worthy cause such as
**** stars... I just don\'t get it is all. I am not defending Raq here. I dig em. so what? I also dig the b\'fast. great. whatever.
Now if someone openly said "hey I might go see band "X" what do you think?" then it would make sense to me to answer with "I don\'t dig it" or "it bores me." to each there own. but there is some truth to old adage of if you don\'t have something nice to say...
but there is some truth to old adage of if you don\'t have something nice to say...
... the world would be awfully quiet!

I get your point... & I\'m actually going to RAQ in a few nights, mainly to promo this band - but, I like the fact that people can disagree over things b/c it makes your points stronger & more worthy!

ugh, I\'m ordering a room right now. ciao.

find me. I will taping upstairs. I\'ll buy you a drink for having some intelligent conversation! see ya thursday.
krispy - don\'t let this thread fool you. i think you\'d be surprised at the amount of love there actually is for raq around here. we\'ve thrown around the idea of a BRAQfest a ton of times, and there are a lot of people here (myself included) who think that these two bands can do great things for/with each other, and should be touring together.
they\'re just opinions. if no one had opinions, this place would probably not exist at all. there are a lot of different tastes around here, and i think that\'s a good thing. don\'t worry, be happy.
Nicely said, dave. As fro my take on RAQ, I have listened to half a dozen Raq shows and the mp3 samples on their website and they don\'t sound half bad. I agree with leith that they can have \'off\' sets, but if they were playing London and I had a 300 mile round trip to do (as I have done for sci, mule, keller, will for bisco, would have for panic had Mikey not died - I had tickets twice), I would still make it. I agree a co-bill tour would be good - look at how the UM-bisco co-bills have helped both bands.
krispy, we can\'t all be expected to like every band though - just look at the tlg haters here (though the fans are growing - welcome, chris!). I can\'t stand Particle, who I had the misfortune to see after a 45 minute keller opener, which, incidentally, alone was worth the drive. I also am not relishing the thought of UM at the bisco show, but I will give them a chance live. Many here also know of my dislike of 99% of rap, but I like to think we all respect each others\' tastes. Just because people are passionate and there is some seemingly unfriendly banter, doesn\'t mean we are negative. Yes, perhaps some of us are too defensive of our band, but additionally have you ever heard the expressions "One man\'s meat is another man\'s poison" and "Variety is the spice of life"?

maybe because it costs money to go see them?
the times i saw them as the main act they were not that good. i dont really mind them as an opener, but after about 45 mins ive had enough. ive seen them several times and tried to get into them but i always end up being bored for most of the show.
Wish I could make the show on thursday but not gonna have my car back by then. Also will probably be missing the paradise show in a couple weeks since I already have bruins tix and I\'m not driving, so I have no say in what we do afterwards....ohh well. Have fun thursday night whoever is going, hope the recording comes out good so I can hear what I missed.
I didn\'t start this thread to bash RAQ, in fact, I kind of like them after years of relentless bashing. I just wanted to point out the comparison of chord changes.
I first saw RAQ when they were known as Shadraq. This was before Todd Stoopes left Named by Strangers to join the band. Anyways, it was freshman orientation and they were playing our student center. There must have been only three people in the crowd. This was back in my "jamband fan" days, and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Now, I\'m not sure most of you know this, but Chris Michetti was a poor man\'s Trey to a T. He\'s toned it down quite a bit, but back in 2001 it was like watching a cheap impression. He made the same faces, played the same guitar, I mean, everything was Trey. After the show I went up to compliment him on his playing. He was just the most pompous
**** I\'d ever come across. I wanted to slap him profusely screaming, "YOU ARENT
**** TREY ANASTASIO!!"
Reagrdless, I didn\'t care for them at all after. Coming from an unbiased listen I must say, some of it is pretty enjoyable. So yeah, I think The breakfast should team up with them. It would be a stellar tour for sure.
thanks everybody. to be honest I am a little sensitive these days. too much negativity in my own life and I start to wish everyone could be overly positive. I\'ll go back to my quiet lurking and standing in the back of B\'fast shows...
No way man, there is A LOT of positive energy at Breakfast shows, you just have to seek it out... Are you going to Daniel St?

Dude you have to watch out for this Spacey guy. He lurks HARD in the back at Breakfast shows. If he gets overly excited he starts throwing punches of love.
Just sayin\'
