the thing is the sg had already been repaired for a crack in the neck and i guess it didn\'t hold up. then 2nd time a neck cracks is usually when it\'s considered totalled. especially for a setneck.
i think the strat is great and i know tim is digging the tone big time.
i\'m really comin around on the strat also.... the first couple shows i saw with tim playin it i was a bit skeptical, but i was really diggin\' it at porter\'s and mill street.....i just really miss some of the tones the sg used to get....the strat rips tho....no doubt
the sg was sweet, but the strat is too. i think i have the same model strat (american deluxe?) I like how the strat gives a bit more zappa to his sound (even though zappa used SGs too)
in the future, itd be cool if he had the SG running again and used both
Always been a humbucker man, myself (though my first electric axe was an East German Strat copy, which a mate modded to give me a switchable out-of-phase tone). Use an Epiphone 335 copy now, which I got cause Jorma used one. Always been surprised Tim didn\'t move towards the PRS style as so many other fusion/proggy guiatrists have, although I think many such guitars tend to give a samey sound. To me, some of the best guitarists have used something a little different - Jerry\'s Melody Maker, Steve Howe and Ted Nugent\'s Gibson archtops etc. Correct me if I\'m wrong , but doesn\'t Jon Gutwillig of the biscuits use a semi too? I seem to remember seeing a pic a while back.
Personally, I would love to see Tim get the SG back, but the I have to admit the Strat seems to be doing alright - is Adrian missing it though?
In a similiar vain, does anyone know Ron\'s setup? I\'m mostly interested in his instrument.
