Actually, there is... In theory, both are trying to succeed in the music industry... My personal opinion is that if TB was to succeed and move forward, they will have to play gigs that are probably below their standards... That means Art Festivals, Free Shows, bars that only pay the door... Kicking Daisies may not be my taste in music, but I give them an A for effort in getting out there and getting noticed... TB has had some major accomplishments, 3 or 4 songs on an MTV show, Mike Gordan sit-in, winning a Jammy... They should not be struggling to get gigs... Other past New Groove Jammy winners include: Yonder Mountain String Band, Robert Rudoply & The Family Band, Benevento/Russo Duo, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals... I don\'t think that these guys are struggling for gigs... -

Yoda, how can you compare 4 kids that are now homeschooled and have no responsiblities except learn and play music to 4 30 year olds that have done this for 15 years and regretfully have never figured out to make TB work. At this point in their lives do you really think they have it in them to kickstart this dead horse? Deatgs a new beginnig in the grand scheme of things and i wouldnt be surprised if a whole slew of new beginnings arrive, no matter the cost.

Yoda, winning a Jammy does not mean you get gigs easy. Bringing lots of heads to shows means you get gigs easy.
Kickin daisies has hundreds of rabid screaming fans with signs because 4 younger kids can play their instruments well. I give em props, they\'re next years Jonas Brothers -

I wouldn\'t be surprised either, but until that press release comes, they are still TB... Is it better to cut clean or draw it out; I don\'t know?

You\'re right, but in my opinion, if you\'ve won a Jammy (and that\'s the highest award for Jam Bands), then that should mean that you\'re doing something right and that should be a launching pad for better things....
Don\'t confuse what I\'m saying with me not wanting the band to succeed... I want them to succeed more than you can ever imagine... -

Kicking Daisies has been playing at different middle schools, high schools, and malls around the area for exposure. If the Breakfast wanted a bunch of 14 yr. old fans as their core audience, then maybe they should promote at the same places. :rolleyes: -

I\'d never heard of the Jammy until The Breakfast won one. I wouldn\'t exactly call it a gateway to fame.
Pretty depressing to see people willing to put nails in the non-existent coffin of my favorite band, who\'s pretty much at the top of their all-time game musically and seemingly doing better in terms of tounout, at least in most place and when there isn\'t a Dead show on the same night.
Seriously. When the time comes, hopefully a long time from now, that The Breakfast no longer exists, at least I won\'t be that dick who said "oh I saw this coming for the last decade".
You care about the band and want to help them? Go to shows and fill up your car with a bunch of kids who\'d probably be blown away and want to go again next time. .info regulars hardly represent the current Breakfast fanbase. Except maybe in CT where it should have been easy as **** for Breakfast to be regularly packing Toad\'s by now considering how many of all y\'all live down there.
I mean seriously, I go to CT shows and its like 75% people from this board, which = not a huge crowd but sometimes decent. Breakfast comes up here and it\'s 75% 18 year old kids who have only recently had their minds blown by this band, and it\'s gonna be a better turnout each subsequent show.
Bring your little brother/sister and their friends to the next show for chrissake. -

they\'re totally right. get the kids into it. us 30 year olds aren\'t meeting a whole lot of new people, and the ones we aren\'t aren\'t going to be easy to take to some concert that starts at 11pm on a weeknight.
the kids are the future. when you see a bunch of 18 year old kids flipping their **** over the breakfast at a show, give them dvds. talk to them. welcome them. (and then make fun of how wasted they are later. )

Go to shows... Where? Albany, New Haven, Boston, Bridgeport, IL, MN, SD, PA? NYC is the closest and a 12:00 AM time slot is not the most desireable event when you\'re taking mass transit from another state. I remember the days at Tobacco Road when the band would finish up around 3:00 AM and we\'d be stuck until 5:30 until the trains started up again. Sounds great for a college student...
