JitD 2008 First Artists!

Hello Everyone!

We\'re going to do things a little differently this year. Since this is such a
major planning effort for most people, and we had three artists who definitely WANTED to come next March, we are going to let the cat out of the bag. Also, with airlines giving fewer seats to frequent flyer miles, and being that you can reserve them starting 11 months in advance (that\'s the rule, we don\'t know why), some people can take advantage of that.

The other change, is that we will be doing FIVE artists next year! We will run three per night in the Old Hall, with a slightly reduced set time. Announcing this early will let us take our time to get feedback from our most loyal fans on who the last two bands should be. Please take part in the poll on our message board:

Jam in the Dam 2008
March 16-17-18

We are very pleased to welcome back Umphrey\'s McGee, along with Tea Leaf Green and Lotus. As we\'ve said all along, it\'s very important for all of the artists to WANT to be a part of our special festival. In many ways, it\'s like a private party for the most loyal fans of the bands, in one of the greatest cities on Earth. We sold 30% of the tickets in Europe last year, and hope to grow that. This is now TRULY an international festival.

We expect to decide on the others by the end of May. Tickets will go on sale sometime in late July, exact date TBA. Please stay tuned, and stay involved!

See you in March!

JitD Staff

Get voting people!  It\'s already the 6th of May. Not much time. The actual poll is limited but I think they update it if a band gets enough posts.
If we can\'t get them on this year at least make enough noise to make the JitD staff realize this band should be considered for the bill in \'09.

Thanks for the idea leith, but can\'t see them really listening to those posting on their board.

Personally, don\'t see why PGroove are so popular, nor UMelt. Of course, if tb made it over to Europe, I\'d be there like a shot, but I can\'t see that happening. LOS would be fun, and Claypool worth it if it was an Oysterhead show, but while I would like to see tlg, if the breakfast boys aren\'t there, then Amsterdam would also have to be offering at least some bisco (couldn\'t go last time they came over for JITD) and kdub (Having finally seen him do his own show this year (rather than opening for Particle), am definitely wanting more.) Or, alternatively,  I\'d need to see some of those bands mentioned in the thread starter cited as not to be suggested. ;)

I\'ll just have to hope that tlg do a bit of a warm-up tour of the UK first, as Keller did last time.

Good to see another European breakfast fan there though.

Sorry, bit too far for a night out!!

Besides which, in terms of shows, I\'ve got Breed 77 next week (Cool metal band for those who don\'t know them). Then at the end of May/beginning of June, it\'s Country Joe McDonald x4 and Roy Harper. That\'s probably my limit for a while.

So unless Tim and Co are over...

pfffffft Seems I\'m the only one on this subject. Not one .info member has posted after I did on that Poll.

I just do not understand the total lack of desire to get this band noticed that most fans on here show. I mean it takes a minute or 2 to register(maybe a day for them to get back to you so you can post) and post something about the band. It\'s not that fricken\' hard.

I can hear the excuses now but none of them matter. How is anyone going to know about this band if we as fans do not do everything in our power to get their name out there?

It does not matter what the poll is really as long as it pertains to having The Breakfast play pretty much. Register and vote. It has to start somewhere(man I am tired of writing that).
Just because alot of you probably cannot afford to get over there for it the band should be at least mentioned in the discussion. Come ON Pgroove and Raq are getting more play. :sigh:

It is all about name recognition and right now they have none but we can help with that.

Sad thing is I posted this thread fully realizing the band would recieve little or no votes for this fest due to the apathy shown by most for this band unless it means they can see the band within a few hours of them.

The Breakfast deserve better than this from the supposed **** fanbase they have.

lighten up francis.

in all honesty, i think our work would be better used trying to get them to some real in country festivals before we start going abroad.

and by real i mean, at least a couple reputable by name or promoter, not the few off the beaten path mom and pop festivals.  good looks though, but really, this is not the highest on my breakfast concern list.

and not need to be a dick about us not signing up for your queerbait message board, thats just faggotry.

This was posted from the Promoters in response to someone bummed about TLG being there:
As far as all the other bands you list? Several are under consideration, and we\'ve had several others, and don\'t want to repeat more than maybe one from one year to the next. Thanks for the kind words about the vibe, we agree. To blow our own horn for a second, remember, our booking agency was instrumental in developing Widespread, Phish, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Leftover, Freddy Jones, The Samples, Umphrey\'s McGee, and many others. We put Dave Matthews on his first two west coast tours opening for the Samples. We were a part of the HORDE tour from the inception. The point? We\'ve been involved in this scene since the very beginning in the late 80\'s, and our choice of artists to represent didn\'t happen by accident. Neither do these line-ups, even if they can\'t please everyone.

Yeah real mom and pop operation. :sigh:
So before you go popping off about getting the band into real fests take a step back do your research and realize these guys could help The Breakfast in the future if they even know they exist and have fans. Maybe they would like The Breakfast and mention them to another promoter or something. You never know.  The point is to let these people know that there will be an audience if they book The Breakfast.

You could have spent your time helping The Breakfast by signing up on that "queerbait message board" but I\'m sure this helps them much more.
