great perspective leith. they\'ll get really far with that approach.
As long as the band themselves are gracious and nice all is well. The crew does not reflect on the band unless they are complete **** all the time. Really.

Oh and @ least I have the direct experience to have a perspective on it.

You deal w/ local crews(usually a bunch of neck down ****), constant time crunching, clueless fans bugging you, and on top of that the musicians themselves and then let me know how you are doing with that whole keeping your cool and not being rude.

Wait a fuckin\' sec.!
Holly is talkin\' **** about people being rude? Oh come on now!

forget success, how about just being nice for the sake of being a decent person?  i know it\'s not the easiest thing in the world to have unconditional love for everyone and everything, but come on, it\'s nice to be nice.

and as for success, suppose a band opens for them and ends up taking off and getting really huge.  they get to decide who they want to open for them on their stadium tour.  they think \'these are the people that we\'re going to see every day for X amount of time....who do i want to spend so much time with?\'  they did open for a really talented band a while back but the crew were a bunch of jerks to them, so they go with a less talented band because they are much nicer to be around.

granted this is an extreme hypothetical but i think you all understand the point i am trying to make.  as a musician, my personal code of ethics is to always try and stay on good terms with anyone i work with on any level.  and so far, it\'s made my life pretty easy and these things have come back to me in a big way.

food for thought.

Ellis is a prick when working,
lets call a spade a spade here.....if you arent already "friends" with Ellis, he is a prick period...And he will not deny this, that prick....

as much of a jerk as ellis is... and, by jeerk I mean ****-whining **** with too much sand in his crotch kinda jerk... i still have to give him respect.  If he was being cold or rude, it was probably called for in the situation.

When I was at the North Star that night, the Breakfast was in a great mood.  I kept seeing another band hangin\' around the green room, and perhaps they didn\'t get the "attention" they deserved, but c\'mon, get over it!  Writing a lame-ass review on a band in which you opened for is ridiculous.

<---- Calls for a total trashing of this "other" band\'s websites, reviews, and any other possible reputation-blowing endeavors :pissed:

i\'m not talking about the other band.  what they do/say is their own problem.  all the band/crew can do in this situation is look and see what their part in it is.  we could sit here all day and **** about how lame the other band is for posting a dick review, but that would get us nowhere.  lets look at our own side of the street.  thats all we can do to keep things moving foward both personally and professionally.

sooo.... the best idea is.... hmmmm - bend over & kiss some dick in order to be "appreciated" in the music industry?

<--- I disagree  -  the Breakfast has done things their way, and it has worked so far.

  I really just wanna to go trash & humiliate someone else\'s band, but I guess it can wait until tonight, jim ;)

Robyn that\'s kinda mean. Why the desire to make someone else miserable?

Also, I am not sure that the idea of "The Breakfast has done things their way and it has worked so far" is very solid. First of all, they don\'t sell out Toad\'s. Secondly, There has to be sacrifice in this game...

Steve the Breakfast has been late before too ya know. **** happens.

I just don\'t think an attitude from anyone is necessary. Band, crew, fans, whomever. No one has to be asskissers, hell, they can be cool, indifferent, standoffish, etc.. Fine. But being rude is just rotten, from anyone, anywhere. We all have bad nights and bad moods. It\'s just important to try and make life more enjoyable for everyone. jeez.

Oh, and for the sake of whatever: I have never encountered anything other than positivity from the band and everyone associated with it in my dealing with them.

Ahhhh... so one **** ass whiner with bad taste in music comes on jambase and talks **** about Ron and the road crew.... and this is anybody\'s but his own fault how?

I mean, I wasn\'t at this gig, but I\'ve never seen Ron or Breakfast road crew be rude .. especially intentionally where it wasn\'t obvious they were so busy I would have had to be a real pain in the ass to try and bug them at the moment anyway.

This dude\'s in a band too, lucky enough to open for Breakfast which no doubt owned their sloppy asses and actually drew a few people to their otherwise would-be-vacant performance, and still talking ****. **** this dude. **** him in his stupid ass.
Put the pointed pencil in the pepper-po and take a little sniff of the things below. :sadban:

1) everyone - chad, ellis, ron, gabo, were all really nice to me (ellis even moved our coats to a safer/more out of the way spot for us and chad and jill and i spent a good ten or fifteen minutes shootin the **** after the show, and i know i\'ve never met chad, and ellis maybe only once)

2) if it was the first opening band who made that post, then **** \'em! their big song was black and white>fresh prince theme song>black and white and once the rest of their pubes grow in, they\'ll have a much better perspective on the world. if it was the second opener, then why did they stick around for most of the show?

3) usually any publicity is good publicity, but since we\'re the only ones talking about it, i\'m not sure this is considered publicity...

4) man, i\'m just numbering things off today...

5) did i mention the lil white boys bustin\' out the michael>fresh prince>jackson?

6) the only thing that would actually mildly concern me, is that if it was the second opener, they had a lot of folks in the crowd that all left after their set. perhaps, if they\'d had their balls cupped like they wanted, there would have been more of an audience for the breakfast\'s set.

7) next time they\'re in philly, they should see if they can get agent moosehead to open. cool guys, very prog rock, lots of nintendo tunes...
