haha, vallo wrote that. basically that\'s the formal form. In reality, talk to tim/adrian, preferably both. As long as they are ok with it, and the venue is ok with it then it\'s basically do what you want. the only thing we really ask above and beyond that is if there are multiple video tapers at a venue the work is colaborated. Hence, Ken can set up his tripod and shoot whatever he wants, but if matt and me are also shooting that night, we discuss how many cameras there are and placement and what they are all shooting so that we can maximize the efficiency of the shoot and don\'t end up with 10 cameras all pointed at chris\' amp during a drum solo. After that Ken does what he wants with his tapes/hd drive footage and then gives us a copy of the master footage so that we can archive it and mix it in with a final edit of the show.
This of course only happens on the rare occasions when there are multiple tapers. You also can have over-riding factors. Say, breakfast plays a festival and they have a camera crew on the contract. then you\'re out of luck to tape, etc, etc. That\'s an example of why the formal piece is written that way but overall it\'s just a matter of getting there early and communicating with the band/venue/other tapers 99% of the time.
