ok, so...small turnout.  here\'s why, imo: everyone knows the webster sucks.  far and wide, this is notoriously known.  it\'s no wonder folks don\'t want to show up.  the staff is nazi (even though they weren\'t too bad last night).  the way it\'s set up...if ya wanna drink, can\'t get close to the stage to watch the band shred and throw back the energy.  if it\'s crowded, gotta wait on line to go outside for a cig.  and, most importantly, the sound in there is HORRIBLE.  if ya get up close, you can\'t hear all the band members.  if ya stand farther back, the whole thing just sounds like a muddled, echoey mess.  now, i could tell that the band was tearing it up (kudos for that, especially even though they were tired), but i had to listen really closely and use a lot of imagination.  so no matter how good the band is playing, it\'s lost on the masses.  ya can\'t really tell.  and it\'s certainly hard to enjoy.

if the breakfast didn\'t keep playing the webster, i would have boycotted the place a long time ago.  i\'m almost to the point where i think i\'m not gonna go there anymore, even if the breakfast is playing.  which is saying a lot...missing a ct breakfast show.  but the webster is the worst venue ever.

if you\'re gonna do a ct show, there are other, better choices...toad\'s, porter\'s, sully\'s, etc.

so, the breakfast, please don\'t play the webster anymore.  i beg you.

I dunno, to me it just seems sort of selfish to start boycotting Breakfast shows cuz you have a few issues w/ the venue.  if the security sucks, you just have to roll w/ it.  hell, 90% of Boston venues have just as bad if not worse Security than the Webster.  I those cases, you just have to take it easy and leave them no reason to give you any flack.  The drinking situation sucks, but nothings gonna change that.  I had most my drinks before the Breakfast started, and raged it up front while they were on stage.  I may have slipped back to the bar twice after they started to grab a drink and chill for a few minutes before returning to the floor.  Must everyone have a drink in their hand the entire duration of the show in order to have a good time?  Sacrifice people, there\'s nothing wrong w/ it.  As far as waiting in line to smoke a butt, that never occurred to me, and I went out there plenty of times throughout the course of the night.  Maybe I just had good timing.

Those seem to be good reasons for the \'small turnout,\' but I\'m pretty sure there were more people there last night than at the last Porter\'s, Worcester, UAC, Providence, and Boston shows, so what was the issue those nights?

well, unfortunately money is tight and i have to choose my outings carefully.  i\'m just at the point where going there doesn\'t seem worth it.  if you wanna call that selfish, so be it.  i see it as doing my part to make a point to the band that they shouldn\'t continue to play at a venue that is so unenjoyable, when there are better choices in the area.

as far as the security is concerned, i\'ve never personally had an issue.  when i go there i know better than to do *anything* questionable and behave accordingly.  however it does often result in creating an overall negative vibe.

but my biggest issue is the sound.  it always sounds like **** in there.  the music is lost.  and the reason i go to breakfast shows is because i love hearing them play.  so if i can\'t really hear them play, and have to strain to try and hear it...it begs the question, what\'s the point in going?

my intent here is not to be whiny...i just wonder why the breakfast insists upon continuing to play that place.  and i want to make my voice heard.

Forgot that the bar area was in back of me for most of the night. That is the BIGGEST problem with the Webster, imo. I wanna be on the floor with a beer in my hand, is this too much to ask for people? honestly, beer in hand=good times!

The sound is the biggest problem at the Webster. confirmed. we are there to HEAR THE BAND. Therefore, not being able to hear each instrument (come on, there are only four!) is ludicrous.

I can deal with everything at the Webster except for the sound. It sounds like mud there.

sound does suck, sad too, because the place has/had potential if properly equipped.

I have never found the Webster on my first try, last night I was stuck in a car for 20 extra minutes on the wrong side of town, and the drove back across town when we learned it was back on the other side of town. when it comes to directions, I am an atlas, but for some reason I never find the Webster. Maybe that vibe is saying something, hello?

if the breakfast are going to continue to play the webster i think they should start playing 3 or even 4 set shows.  stop with the 4 opening bands.  one opener early and the band needs to start playing at like 9:30-10 at the latest.  little suprises like this are what make people flock to be there.  i know i would mucho appreciate extra servings of breakfast whenever i could get em...i think it would make the struggle to do anything in that place a lot more bearable.  i would love to see them bring back the acoustic set....

It doesn\'t matter how many sets they play, when the sound is as bad as it was Saturday, it is all for naught. The best sounding part of the show, from an acoustic standpoint was Adrian\'s drum solo. When the band was playing together, it was one muddy mess. I have no desire to ever return to that place.

Not that it would help the sound, but it would certainly help the turnout if the Webster would book two bands with actual fanbases (a la Breakfast/AGP) instead for five openers.

If it was still the days when I could see The Breakfast at least once a week with a little drive time, I would skip Webster shows in a second.  But as is, soggy Breakfast is better than no Breakfast.

When was the last time you were at the Living Room. It\'s not too bad a venue anymore. other than the fact that they leave the men\'s bathroom door off and everyone playing pool can see you ****. but the door is always on the ladies room (Sexist Pigs). but other than that it\'s not that bad a venue. they hooked up a new light system and the sound isn\'t half bad either. It has it\'s ups and downs but for the most part no one really bothers unless your blatant.
