The Mars Volta was formed a few years after the Texas bred At The Drive In broke up... have never heard The Mars Volta, but am a huge fan of At The Drive In\'s 1998 release In Caino Out.. Cedric and Omar (guitars/vocals) moved on to form the Volta... a lot of this "emo-core"
**** is riding on the coattails of ATDI\'s sound...In Casino Out is a good record to listen to when angry or feuding with loved one\'s...
sidenote: one of my favorite musical experiences came when seeing Gang Starr, At The Drive In and Rage Against The Machine all on the same bill
Todd you want some 82 Genesis?...... G UNIT 4 LYFE NIGGA!!
Todd you want some 82 Genesis?...... G UNIT 4 LYFE NIGGA!!
not sure what year its from, but "I Don\'t Care Anymore" would be sick. Adrian would tear that song a new
****. wait, now im not even sure if that was Genesis or Phil Collins on his own name?? either way, Phil\'s the man.
joe- easy on the caps NIGGA talk, ya crazy bastad!
is there a running list of songs that the breakfast already has covered somehwere???
there is
i just dont know where
listening to the new mars volta record is listening to 30 minutes of music dispersed amongst 50 minutes of "noise art" in which omar plays with his pedals to make silly noises that no one but him enjoys. but thats just because people dont get it, cuz they\'re not artsy or deep. unbearable.
I couldn\'t of put it better JimCobb, sums up how I feel about Mars Volta perfectly....
Also, The Breakfast should cover ANY Brand X song.....
Especially off of Unorthodox Behavior! Nice call.
Mark do you remember out intense Brand X conversation we had backstage in Johnson,VT(2003)? I have some nasty boots if you want some. Also some Nektar and various other bands from your hey day.. Shoot me a PM if you\'re interested.
oh
**** they have already dont the tom petty song i suggested. that must have been hot. anyone know what show that was at? thats an impressive fuckin list right there
Gang Starr, At The Drive In and Rage Against The Machine all on the same bill
I don\'t know much about ATDI, but GangStarr and Rage is a sick duo! That tour a few years ago with Gangstarr, Common, and Talib Kweli was the bomb. Talib went on first and actually stole the show.
Oh yeah, so...cover songs...how about Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding by Elton John. Ron on vox, of course.
thats the best show to listen to if your not really too sure what to throw on.
