... ever see the \'Touch of Gray\' video?
Good
****, period, but I doubt it drew as much of a new audience as any other, non-jam, band. It is widely known, that pretty much any one song/video heard on the radio, or seen on Mtv, will sound that one same way for the rest of existance. Any newer act that is; within the last 30 or so many years.
I brought up the \'Touch of Gray\' video because Grateful Dead lasted for many many years, and the video didn\'t effect them one way or another. I\'ve known a lot of GD fans that don\'t even like that video much, because it isn\'t a good description of what they really were. But that doesn\'t even really matter here... the point is, that those rap groups/rock bands that are so idlized and over played all day fade quickly. The groups can\'t hold a fan-base\'s attention for too many years. A GD song from 1969 is just as good today as it was then, but a 50 Cent track from last year isn\'t interesting now at all. What the hell is that? Even if you bought the cd without listening to the radio or watching Mtv, you are sick of it now. But that one GD song have evolved over the years, again and again.
Maybe an MtvJAM channel would work. Where groups can make elaborate videos for album versions of songs to promote their newest album, but to still have programs dedicated to the actual \'live works\' of the band. Fine... enough said.
Yeah, so, (Mr.)Phish to have the first ever live broadcast straight at audiences all around the world... in a damned movie theater. Where the
**** did they get THAT idea!? It\'s a new age people!
